Keep the Continental trawlers away from the sandals and puffins will thrive.

Those puffing about puffins have been huffed.

Just like Viner’s statement about future children not knowing what snow is, Juliet Vickery’s statement about grandchildren not seeing puffins needs keeping for future reference.

One might think that Juliet has known of Viner’s remark and try to word her remarks such that she too doesn’t get her personal “I’m Stupid ” sign.
      One would be wrong.

Commercial dredging of sandeels, predominantly by Danish vessels, is the biggest threat to Puffins, followed by bird flu.

You would have thought the BTO would have known that, wouldn’t you?
In fact it has been well known for some time that hoovering up the sand eels has been a major cause of the decline of the Farne colony. Lundy has been less affected because that colony is further away from the commercial fishing ground.
I gave up on the RSPB years ago. It seems the BTO has been bitten by the same bug.

        How is the BTO financed?

Membership and charitable donations, as far as I know.

Most abused words in the eco-warriors’ lexicon:
Could. Might. Anticipated. Projected. Expert. Consensus. Established. Threaten. Likely. Hotest Coldest. Heaviest. Driest. Lightest……… (add your’s)…and offered without objective consideration as to the facts or the resulting consternation.

A bit like that old canard “…in 2005 there were 6,000 polar bears in the Arctic, now there’s only 22,000 left”

Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.

Species have been growing shrinking emerging extincting forever and will carry on doing so. From a UK point of view a bit of warming is a delightful prospect. Clearly less so for hot places but great for Canada and Russia

Wind turbine in Ayrshire yesterday morning, totally shredded in the strong winds associated with #StormGerrit.

Puffin numbers on Lundy have increased primarily because rats have now been eliminated. Nothing at all to do with climate of course

‘New research reveals’ should say ‘New research claims’.

Note the “could” and predictions from baseless moggles in the former…. and seemingly that “facts” were included in the latter. See a pattern here?
