Wales To Spend £2.6 Billion Fighting Climate Change Next Year

If you live in Wales, you should be extremely concerned about this:

At the moment the Welsh Budget for 2024 to 2025 is still at the draft stage, but they are planning to spend £2.6 billion of your money on fighting climate change during the upcoming financial year:

And this is on top of the £2.6 billion they are spending this year:

Some of this money may be taken out of other budgets – for instance, new schools, which will now be built to Net Zero standards, but at a much higher cost. Most of the budget will, I would guess, be wasted though; for instance school budgets will be raided to pay for heat pumps and other superfluous expenditure.

These costs, by the way, exclude non-fiscal resources, such as Civil Service staff costs.

There are 1.3 million households in Wales, so over this two period climate spending by the Welsh Government will cost each and every one £4000. And that is on top of all of the other costs imposed by the UK Government.

It would be so nice to think that their vote-count at elections will be ‘nett zero’ long before 2050, but I’m beginning to despair of our own electorate – let alone the Welsh one….

So, little Wales is going to fight climate change. Ah, diddums….

Wales has to, as Westminster has set the rules for the devolved nations to follow

This is the absolute definition of virtue signalling. If the Welsh electorate voted for this – fine, If not, it’s a tyranny forcing the Welsh people into slavery.

    These are not serious people.

‘The poorest and most marginalised populations are most at risk from the negative impacts of climate change.’

    Argumentum ad misericordiam.

    These are trashy people.

“We continue to respond to the ever-increasingly visible signs of the nature and climate emergencies as reported by BBC.”

    FIFY

    ‘ever-increasingly visible signs’

    Begging the question fallacy.

‘We are facing a climate and nature emergency’

So, how much tax does nature pay? PEOPLE are paying for the government. The government’s priority should be with those who actually pay for. People created the government and pay for it.

The government of Wales is broken. They preen for elites.

Trusting the Hamas-loving BBC is a fundamental error.

I visited Wales many years ago and had been intending to return, particularly in order to visit the “Internal Fire Museum of Power”. But with Drakeford’s insane 20mph speed limit, I very much doubt that will now happen. The whole point of going on holiday is to relax, and you can’t do that while having to constantly look at the speedo. And now – only this morning – I see that Monmouthshire County Council wants to persuade the UK Government to bring back the controversial levy for crossing the Severn Bridge! I wonder how many revenue generating tourist trips they going to miss out on now?

Draft budget? Daft budget, more like.

Politicians never do costs and outcomes: they don’t even do costs. If I was living in Wales I’d want those that take my money for daft schemes like CC to tell me how they can guarantee a better climate in Wales than in England which is not taking a climate tax from the English. It’s nothing more than taking money under false pretences ie: it is impossible for the Welsh government to deliver value for money. .

10 years of such budgets will provide interesting experiments, such as …
    ~Will people leave?
~Will they eat ants and leaves?
~Will the “climate and nature emergency” be prevented?
~Will St. Patrick return to Wales and drive the “snakes” out?

As if there wasn’t enough wasted on PPE, furlough etc etc
Is there any ‘real people’ in politics or just deluded clowns with empty skulls ?

I both read an article about how dreadfully the Labour government in Wales performed, and is performing (significantly worse than England on so many important performance factors) and recently experienced a two hour plus journey to my wife’s mother at her home in Wales. That 20 mph speed limit is dreadful, and why the Welsh Labour party was not thrown out years ago is beyond me. It can only be an inherent bias?

The graphic for “total capital funding” is madness. However, most governments over the decades have failed the Welsh population, so I’m not surprised that the current Welsh government appears to be continuing that tradition.

“Walesonline” might offer the opportunity to comment on the proposals.

The green agenda is such unbelievable nonsense. History tells us all we need to know about climate changes over millions of years. The Med was near 2 deg hotter during the Roman era. The Chinese have just commissioned their 120th coal fired power station, so in theory, most of China should be under a blanket of black polluted air…of course its not.
The reality is, just like the covid con, its all about the elites and their mates making lots of money out of a farcical lie. Highly paid “Experts” have popped up in these cons. And us mugs are financing them and the political elites with net zero benefit to us. End game?
Orwellian broken society controlled by big brother aka the puppet politicians and their pals all bought and paid for. Has anyone gone to jail for the PPE scandal ? Has any one gone to jail for fiddling the covid fake death statistics, the £32 wasted billion on track and cant trace, the never used Nightingale tents ?
And how come it has cost near £200 million to build a small hotel in Rwanda ? Where did that money go one may ask !!
Its all part of the cunning plan to break the masses both financially and mentally. Once broke and broken big brother has absolute control.

The £2.6 billion of taxpayers’ money would be better spent on health. The Welsh are demonstrably in need of improved health care; there is no demonstrable need to “fight climate change” .

Please, not the “better spent” argument. There is no linkage between health care spending and ‘climate’ spending. Less climate spending doesn’t mean more health care spending.

Though it’s true that ‘there is no demonstrable need to “fight climate change” .’

I would also argue that government shouldn’t be spending money on “health care,” either. It’s not why the government was created. It is a contrived duty to expand government.

It wasn’t done because they love people and want to help them. That was just the marketing hype.

      • January 1, 2024 5:18 pm

@ Gamecock. My view is that the £2.6 billion proposed taxpayers’ expenditure for “climate change” would be better spent on the Welsh Health Service (an organisation funded by taxpayers), which currently offers waiting lists of years for replacement hips etc.

        Your view might be different.

How do you know it isn’t? You could re-classify many heath issues as “adaptation to climate change”

  14. January 2, 2024 2:33 pm

Where are the words “climate change mitigation”? Pointless term I know but mitigation for slow changes in for example amount of surface runoff ( stopping planning offices allowing housing developments on flood planes would be a very cheap bit of mitigation!

Instead we are treated to virtue signalling on acid…. pointless gestures which just make people buying tech from china and reselling it richer.

IF the Klymutt is SUCH a problem surely it is what is going on outside which should matter not inside!

Also….. rant almost over. IF as the climate lunatics claim we have runaway global warming…… why then do we need new buildings with crazy expensive insulation and heating systems????????

I imagine that the majority of climate change spend will be on trains and busses etc, maybe flood prevention, energy efficiency improvements, things like that. It’s all expenditure that would happen in any case, it’s just been re-categorised

If it wasn’t that they’re wasting taxpayer funds it would be truly laughable! Tiny Wales punching the fictitious punch bag while the world’s biggest emitters do nothing!
