The Boxing Day storm of 1998 was not a one off. Almost exactly a year before, another powerful storm hit Britain on Xmas Day.
This was the weather report issued on Xmas Eve, and the BBC News report after it had hit:
Note the trees down, an indication that this storm was much more powerful than Gerrit last week.

Obviously the BBC, along with the rest of the MSM, didn’t blame these storms on climate change although if they happened again they would.
