Energy and the Poverty of Nations
By Paul Homewood
This is a must watch video:

We pay lip service to the importance of energy in our lives, but do we really understand just how all-pervasive that influence really is and how dependent we are on fuels of high physical quality to deliver rich and free societies?
In a new short film written for Net Zero Watch, Dr John Constable reminds us that human wealth in the broadest sense, from the smallest gadget to a tolerant and diverse society, is an improbable state of physics that results from work done by energy.
But the fuels from which we obtain that energy are not equal. Fuels of high thermodynamic quality, such as coal, oil, gas and fissile uranium, can do more work and generate more wealth than low quality organic fuels, which is why the West became both rich and free from the late medieval period onwards as it progressively adopted high density mineral sources of energy such as coal, oil and gas.
Noting that UK energy consumption and particularly electricity consumption is now in sharp decline, Dr Constable suggests that climate policies which are forcing us to use chaotic, high entropy fuels sources such as wind and solar, threaten the reversal of the trend of human progress and must be rejected before irreversible damage is done.
Andrew Montford, Director of Net Zero Watch and producer of the film, said:
‘Dr Constable’s film is a powerful warning that, because our current energy policies are wrong at a fundamental, physical level, they can never be economic. Indeed they are an urgent threat to our society.

The lunatics advocating net zero ( especially those in silicon valley) have developed an argument against the logic of low versus high entropy fuels. It includes the inclusion of total well being of the globe and nature as part of the entropy equation, arguing that in total high entropy fuels that protect and nourish a planet wide ‘low entropy’ of all things is better than using low entropy fuels that lead to disaster for ‘everything’.
Its complete BS , but I can imagine it makes all those who do not really understand or want to understand basic physics ‘Feel’ so much better.
There isn’t any logical argument that overcomes religious devotion.
Och, …. ’ just let the have cake …’ kinda sums up the notion of helping under-developed Nations . Feeding them , etc is not good enough, give them the tools to feed themselves. Sadly, we taught them corruption and other wayward ways too. … and it all revolves around the cost of energy to do ANYTHING.
JC always produces excellent videos. It’s a pity politicians don’t watch them and certainly most of them (PPEs, lawyers etc) wouldn’t understand anyway.
Dear oh dear, far too rational and positive , you are up against it right there , no one wants to listen to that kind of thing , no virtue in it, no subsidies in it , no laying in the road or gluing yourself to buildings or chucking orange powder about , no crying , no painting yourself red and blocking traffic with all your noble friends , lifes just too boring with abundant efficiently produced energy dont you think
Meanwhile Red Ed thinks we can decarbonise electricity by 2030.
It can be ‘decarbonised’ tomorrow, but afterwards there won’t be much of it for a large percentage of the time and the economy will go downhill fast.
He’s yet another energy incompetent socialist self server
Beautifully produced, thought provoking work of honesty. It needs to be circulated widely, especially amongst the scientifically challenged youth and their teachers.
Absolutely.
The people are becoming so much more aware of what is happening politically, and there are fights going on all over the UK.
This is one to help our Farmers.
GB News gave air time to some twat from the Climate Party today and no I couldn’t bear to hear his drivel other than for a brief bit where he was bemoaning no talk of tidal power or some other unproven ridiculously expensive thing like floating windmills, both of which are central to Labour lunacy where one can only assume the only Net Zero is the time they have spent talking to qualified people who would kill their 2030 plan.
Constable is an excellent narrator.
I wish they had shown him at some point.
That was an interesting video! very thought provoking
