India’s thermal power production continues to forge ahead, growing by 9% last year, from 1190 to 1294 TWh.

Meanwhile there has been barely any increase at all in their much vaunted renewables. Wind and solar only increased by 16 TWh in the 10 months to October (latest data), and still only account for less than 12% of India’s electricity:

New coal generating capacity added 2120 MW last year, and now stands at 208 GW. In the last three years 9630 MW has been added.

Demand peaks at around 240 GW in summer; with wind and solar averaging just 19 GW, it is plainly absurd to suggest that India will be transitioning away from coal any time soon!

Just Stop Oil had better fly out to India immediately to sort them out. When they’ve done that, it is just a short flight to China to sort them out too.

Perhaps the Chinese can find them some work…..they seem good at getting the unwilling to do something useful.

Been to India a lot. Any figures for what the alarmists disgraceful y call ‘traditional biomass ie wood and dung.? Elsewhere Willis Eschenbach reckons tb produces three times the global energy than all the windmills and solar panels in the world. Some way to go eh? India seems to be tackling the problem, bless her.

It appears that ‘RES’ stands for “renewal energy source” – First I’ve seen this. Other places include ‘hydro’ in this category. ‘liardetg’ mentions Willis E., and “tb” but that I can’t even guess.

Ditto. I assumed RES was rest – as in everything else, so thanks for deciphering that.

‘tb’ caused a stumble, but to be fair, liardetg does say ‘traditional biomass’ in the comment.

Not wasting their money on unreliables.

Replaceables since they have to be replaced every 15 years on average at high cost in resources and carbon energy

Well the British left a historic handprint on India, and too be fair, they have thanked us ever since. Now as they show the World that fossil fuel = Energy = Economic Growth, and watches as the old Empire dies, not thru war but thru starvation of Energy, leading to Economic Decline, India can truly feel proud that they put the economic wellbeing of the Nation First, Second and Third.

Good job India! India’s CO2 emissions are 2250% higher than the UKs (Chinas are 7600% higher) – BRICS+ are powering ahead of the West, who are on WEF mission regress, impoverishing their masses for no good reason other than wealth transfer from the masses, to the globalist elites
