Tory peer Zac Goldsmith has been banned from driving and order to pay £8,200 after he was caught speeding 11 times in less than two years.
The former environment minister, 49, was sentenced at Westminster magistrates court on Monday over a slew of criminal charges brought against him.
Goldsmith racked up 12 penalty points on his licence over four speeding incidents between May 2022 and March last year. He was punished with fixed penalty fines and points on his licence, but was not disqualified from driving.
After being spared a ban, Goldsmith was clocked speeding a further seven times between May to December last year.

Anybody normal would have been automatically banned after those first 12 points, so I don’t know what he used to persuade the judge to bend the law.
But what is most pertinent is the fact that this eco-loon, who lectures the rest of us to give up our way of life, feels it is his right to still drive around around London, rather then using Mayor Khan’s wonderful, crime free London Transport!

Zac Goldsmith was warned by a judge that speeding drivers “emit more harmful emissions” as he was banned from driving for a year for a number of motoring offences.
The former environment minister, 49, broke speed limits seven times in his hybrid Volkswagen Golf on London roads in Paddington, Chelsea and Twickenham between April and November 2023.
He was also caught speeding on two motorways, most recently in December, Westminster magistrates court heard.
The court heard that in April last year Goldsmith was caught driving at 29mph in a 20mph zone on Chelsea Embankment, and in July he drove at 28mph in a 20mph zone near Kensington Gardens.
In May, August and November of the same year, he broke the 40mph limit on the A316 in Twickenham by twice driving at 46mph and once at 47mph.
He was also caught driving at 62mph in a 50mph zone at the M25 intersection with the M3 in December, and at 73mph between junctions 20 and 19 of the M4 in September – breaking a 50mph temporary speed limit.

One has to wonder how many times he was actually stopped by plods who took fright at his Westminster ID pass…. it’s a thing I heard from a researcher who always used his HoC pass as ID with cops.

Ted, his uncle and founder of “The Ecologist”, was a great pal, a great entertainer and wonderful host during the 1970s, when all this panicky “green” movement all started!
His rich and hypocritical nephew seems also to have no sense of humour!
Hoist by his own petard? No doubt he had a hand in the (absurd) imposition of “20 mph” speed limits too.

Whilst Goldsmith absolutely deserves twelve months of shanks’s pony, it used to be possible to routinely travel in that London at 60mph+ in a 30mph limit, although that was in the previous century.
