Apparently Britain is in for a heatwave tomorrow! (Or high-teens in normal people’s language):

The forecast for tomorrow for my neighbouring village is a high of 17C. I might not need the central heating.

14 cc tomorrow in the North East it was 17c today

I’m not sure what he’s talking about. The Met Office certainly aren’t talking about a heatwave. Just some warm sunshine in the south eastern part of the country.

Unfortunately Paul didn’t include my screenshot of the BBC weather report this lunchtime that showed the whole of the UK in furnace red.

FFS, if the Biased Broadcasting Corporation said it was snowing/raining/cold/hot, I would check by looking outside- they are cult followers who know nothing but love to exaggerate and lie.

Haha. Next week much of UK will be lucky to get above single digits for most of the week. Snow in scotland next week. Near zero in South east tues night. Coldwave coming.

Yet another example of the old maxim: “If their lips are moving, you know they’re telling a lie!” - meaning anyone from the BBC or Met Office. If it’s a written warning/alert nonsense – substitute lips for fingers (as in writing or typing).

I just wait for the wonderful Paul Homewood to publish an article blowing their stupid narrative out of the water – with REAL facts.

Alarmist codswallop. The lunchtime BBC weather displayed a temperature map of the UK in furnace red. Be afraid NOT.

It was the furnace red over all of the UK that made me send the link to Paul.

What colour are they planning to use when it gets above 25°C. A mate suggested purple, black and then white hot?

The screen shot wasn’t included in his post, maybe for copyright reasons?

      • April 11, 2024 7:32 pm

Couldn’t they incorporate actual leaping flames?

if you use the BBC complaints procedure I can predict with 97% certainty that the first response will be just to repeat what was said in the broadcast. Appeal and they will say deep red indicates temperatures above average.

    About bloody time too! Yippee.

Anyone remember the fabulous weather we had during the first lockdown? Now, when did that start? Oh yeah, 23rd March.

How soon the BBC’s weather forcasters forget the balmy spring and summer that we had in 2020!

Doesn’t the BBC and Grauniad climate derangement sound very much like Trump derangement in the US! They have exhausted the English language to that point Trump is now Hitler. I suppose in the same vein so will we be in their eyes for not thinking the way we are being told to think.

  13. April 11, 2024 5:36 pm

What they meant was 19-20C in the London area for a day or two. Mid teens elsewhere.

The BBC need to keep the scare going. Very many of its viewers have no idea of climate change details/scams and tend to absorb anything BBC tells them. In the same way they started naming storms it would not surprise me to find that they start naming warm periods (AKA: heat waves). They need to keep the proletariat worried – and in ignorance.

In passing, the BBC News just said that swans on the Avon at SOA are in danger from CC as the current climate (AKA: weather) is maybe (that word again!) affecting their life-style. Believe me, I know SOA and there are hundreds of them here. And as the small river at the bottom of my garden feeds in to the Avon, (and where, for 20-odd years we hosted a breeding pair of swans – but not now!) I can say that it has been completely poisoned by poor water-quality maintenance. We now have few, if any, water-birds, very few fish (used to have tench, bream, pike etc) and tons of weed. Severn Trent (probably Thames Water, now) say it’s all down to CC. Arrrggghhh! Put it this way, once I would happily paddle and swim in the river…Not now!!!

What is the definition of a heatwave? We lucky people in the west of the country get 19 degrees on Friday. During the first lockdown, I was walking in shirt sleeves at the end of March 2020.

My Celsius to Fahrenheit converter is broken. It says 20C is 68F.

    Not. Smokin’. Hot.

    Y’all really consider 20 C ‘hot?’

    • April 11, 2024 9:45 pm

Apparently a naked human being in the shade will die from hypothermia at 20°C/68°F but our UK nanny state insists it has to indoctrinate us….at any cost!

Can anyone with a local knowledge of Cambridge help me out with the siting of the Cambridge National Institute of Agricultural Botany (NIAB). I can find exactly where it was on google maps but its reporting seems to have disappeared from the Met Office site. Does anyone know if it is still there?

As an aside there appears to be a trial unit fitted alongside the botanic gardens site – if so this has got to be a complete joke. The NIAB site was CIMO classified grade 1 (the best) the Botanic Gardens was grade 5 (the worst). I would not put anything past the Met Office concocting data.

    BBC Weather backs off…

So is there a heatwave on the way?

The Met Office defines a heatwave as three or more consecutive days of temperatures above a certain threshold – which varies depending on where in the UK you are.

In the London area that threshold is 28°C. For Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and most of northern and western England it’s 25°C.

The chances of meeting this definition in the next few weeks seem very slim indeed.

The use of dark red and black for 13-14C by MeteoSwiss I think outdoes even the BBC. See the map here:

Turn on the news and you get climate bullshit story’s all the time. I think Sky news is now worse than the BBC . Turned on news today to be told that tomorrow ‘could’ be the hottest day this YEAR. Yes this is the breaking news that as spring progresses it is getting hotter than winter. I wait with baited breath as spring turns into summer to be told that summer is hotter than spring with more scary headlines along the lines “THE HOTTEST DAY YET THIS YEAR” With weather charts the deepest red or maybe animated on fire. But then as summer turns to autumn and autumn to winter you can expect more scary news Climate Change disrupts weather bring in unexpected cold blast as nation struggles to survive.

Spoiler alert the climate will do what it is going to do. Be it the same or different , short term or long term change. Now the good news humans have lived and are living in all sorts of climate and have been quite good at adapting when things change as they always do. Hotter today think I wont put on a jumper crisis averted.
