Scotland to ditch key climate change target

The Scottish government is to ditch its flagship target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 75% by 2030.

The final goal of reaching "net-zero" by 2045 will remain, but BBC Scotland News understands the government’s annual climate targets could also go.

Ministers have missed eight of the last 12 annual targets and have been told that reaching the 75% milestone by the end of the decade is unachievable.

A statement is expected at Holyrood on Thursday afternoon.

And as sure as eggs are eggs, the 2045 target will go by the board as well.

No matter how much politicians want to turn back the tide, reality will always win out.

The only question is much cost and economic destruction will we incur as a consequence?

    A supplementary….

When will the Reality-Deniers who have maliciously foisted this nonsense on us, be held to account?

When indeed. If they are , the queue will be spectacularly long given all of the political experimentation we have been subjected to away from the ballot box.

Martin! Thanks but aren’t you supposed to be taking a holiday?

I just read the BBC report on the matter! Absolutely hilarious 😂

the story is interspersed by ads for visiting the USA! I completely agree that the USA is filled with wondrous Nature parks! But nowhere are we urged to get there by swimming, rowing or sailing – or for that matter any other way without using fossil fuels!

Hang your head in shame, BBC, for selling such advertisements that only result in Climate Catastrophe! 😢

If you are getting ads on the BBC website I assume you are outside the UK and that the ads are “chosen” by your browsing.

      Geoff,

not so much common sense but hard reality that their fantasies cannot overcome.

2045 is still a target, typically for Scotland, who wish to beat the national aim of 2050.

Hopefully sense and practicalities will prevail long before then?.

Not common sense but a fear of being taken to court. No target, no missed target.

I live in Scotland and the weird thing is that Scotland, like the UK, has never, ever given any credible scientific or engineering justification for trying to achieve Net Zero, especially when undertaken unilaterally of the main global populations (China, India, etc) who clearly have no intention of following suit.

My own opinion, based on careful research, is that atmospheric CO2 has negligible impact on the climate and that the decades old climate change scare is a Malthusian globalist trojan horse to starve us of energy and food and hence deindustrialise us (already well underway), digitally enslave us and ultimately depopulate us. Why more of the general public can’t see this is beyond my understanding and powers of persuasion.

Energy is not even a devolved issue in Scotland yet the nutters in charge think that be demolishing all the fossil fuel power stations and carpeting the countryside in inefficient, unreliable wind turbines, they can somehow survive as a (fading) modern economy. Some parts of the country (e.g. around Strathaven) offer a 360° panorama of windmills as far as the eye can see which will all be junk in 20 or so years.

My own MSP is chairman of the Holyrood Net Zero Committee. I have written to him often asking him to justify the insanity of his policies but he simply refuses to engage. That’s because the policies are controlled not by him, nor Scotland nor the UK but by the unaccountable globalist establishment which our treasonous Uniparty politicians cravenly kow-tow to.

Here is my most recent email to Sir Edward Mountain (Con MSP), Convenor of the Scottish Net Zero Committee: https://metatron.substack.com/p/the-undemocratic-tyranny-of-net-zero. I got no reply, maybe because I accused him of complicity in crimes against humanity.

I keep saying it, the essential first step to get ourselves out of the mess we are in is for people to stop voting for the Con/Lab/Lib/SNP Uniparty.

Can’t meet annual targets? Stop talking about annual targets.

The final goal of reaching “net-zero” by 2045 will remain

One big failure 20 years out. Ditch the annual failures.

GBN had the leprechaun on to probably rage against this but thank god for remote controls and mute buttons to avoid damaging my health, well-being and expensive TV. No counterpoint view was offered as to the impossibility of Net Zero, leaving aside the reality of CO2 having no discernible affect on our climate as a step too far.

Lord Deben will be very cross.

    Good.
