Mali’s “Impossible Heatwave” Was Not Even A Record

You will no doubt remember this pack of BBC lies:

As I commented at the time, the article was focussed on Bamako, the capital of Mali, a highly overcrowded and polluted city with a population of over 4 million.

The claims of 48C temperatures have not been borne out at official stations – as so often, the BBC just takes unsubstantiated claims as gospel.

Senou is a small town just 9 miles from Bamako and it does have an official weather station. There temperatures peaked at 44.1C, well below the BBC’s claim. And that was not even a record, which stands at 45.5C.

Temperatures of 44C and over have also occurred in past years, such as 1991, 1996 and 2003. And the KNMI graph below shows no evidence that extreme heat in Mali is getting worse because of climate change:

Senou’s temperature data is corroborated by other nearby official stations. Bougouni, Kita and Koutiala recorded 43.9C, 43.8C and 44.2C respectively.

BBC for the Britons ?  the same Britons who go and get baked on tropical beaches, “enjoying the heat, heat so great you can fry an egg on the car roof or on the tarred road …. as in Scotland, even.  What’s not to l ike for the experience of a Sauna outdoors. Don’t like the smell or pollution? then tidy it up. Jobz for the boyz.

The first B is a bit of a misnomer these days as the chairman is a Kashmiri, and so is the head of Radio 4. And the arab section consists of Hamas supporters who hate Jews. Whatever would Lord Reith make of it?

How did you know / read my mind- from another post: ”Huh, having my fill of such folk and their “Dictats” today. So like so many of our british politicians, is she truly British, I mean REALLY British ?  The lot of them, have they really got the interests of the electorate at heart ? “

You can link anything to anything if you try hard enough.

What has happened to the £millions that the BBC has poured into BBC Verify?

    • April 30, 2024 2:38 pm

Indeed, where IS BBC verify? (joke)

I smelled a rat when I first saw this because the BBC seems the only source. No other outlet mentioned it let alone a specific source.

      Then they tell us

“A new analysis from scientists involved with the World Weather Attribution group suggests the high day time and night time temperatures would not have been possible without the world’s long term use of coal, oil and gas as well as other activities such as deforestation”.

Scientists?????? These people are at best statisticians not scientists and certainly not atmospheric physicists.

As usual the term “scientists” means “accept and don’t question proles”. This is because the wokeykokeys in the BBC are all Arts graduates so for them there is a mystique around people they imagine in white coats carrying clip boards.

BBC Cyense, where feelings matter more than facts.

Indeed. Except for cult members, World Weather Attribution is a joke.

A deadly heatwave in West Africa and the Sahel was “impossible” without human-induced climate change, scientists say.

No scientist would say such a stupid thing. Though I guess it’s possible to have stupid scientists. Theoretically.

Researchers say human activities like burning fossil fuels made temperatures up to 1.4C hotter than normal.

See, all temperatures are now 1.4C hotter [warmer?] than they would have been. ‘Climate change’ has increased temps evenly around the globe.

They say ‘researchers’ six times, and ‘scientists’ five times. What’s the distinction?

        I have a suggestion for them 👎

I think “scientists” get more generous bribes than “Researchers”.

I had 47°C a couple of years ago. For some reason I didn’t die. I guess it had something to do with the reliable electricity and air conditioning.

The BBC has long been a left wing mouth piece, peddling nonsense and misinformation – I stopped paying the telly tax years ago

I live in the Phoenix, Arizona are 47 only means you might not need hot water for a shower. 47 C happen almost ever year and around 49 C is not unusual. Average daily temperature is around 42C, 71C is the afternoon temperature of the pavement in the summer. Most outdoor metal door handled that get the sun are wrapped with some form of cloth or plastic also.
