Taxpayer-backed net zero group donates to Labour

A government-backed organisation that raises cash for net zero projects has donated £100,000 of support to Labour.
The Green Finance Institute, which was set-up by former chancellor Lord Hammond with £2m of taxpayer cash in 2019, is advising shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves and shadow energy secretary Ed Miliband.
Donations of its services valued at £99,000 were unveiled by the Opposition last month, with the self-defined “action tank” agreeing to support Labour’s bid to create a National Wealth Fund.
The arrangement was disclosed in the MPs’ register of interests, where the Green Finance Institute is listed as “providing policy support”. It suggests the company may be helping to shape plans that will form part of Labour’s manifesto in the upcoming election.
The involvement with Labour is likely to raise questions among backbench Tory MPs, given the Green Finance Institute’s roots as a state-backed venture. It advertises its ongoing links with the Government prominently on its website.
I’ll let the DT commenters have their say:

I agree with Nicholas Chuzzlefield above – net zero is one big taxpayer teat that these nefarious, funded institutions are rabidly sucking on for all it’s worth
Me too.
Indeed, the various oligarchs in the collective fund the insanity too through various ‘tax efficient’ ‘not for profits’ and then often profit handsomely from the catastrophism. Grantham and wood pellets from USA to Drax is one example of many.
They are lying.
We know they are lying.
They know we know they are lying.
They don’t care.
They don’t care because they are using our money to perpetuate their lies.
Dalrymple on propaganda;
“Political correctness is communist propaganda writ small. In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, not to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to.”
― Theodore Dalrymple
This is interesting from a number of viewpoints.
It shows the political tendancy of the governing board of a quango. It is no surprise but it is confirmation.
It also shows there is no effective control over expenditure by tax payer funded organisations. I wonder how much more of this has been going on without our knowledge. It reminds us of the MP expoenses scandal when MPs were claiming and receiving funds from Parliament to support their MP work but included were subscriptios to party HQ nominated IT services companies used at election time.
I am sure there would be a lot of illegal soending by “charities” if only the Charity Commission was itself not completely compromised.
How can there even be a ‘taxpayer backed’ net zero group? Show us the taxpayers who knowingly backed it.
The politicians have reneged on the deal of ‘no tax without accountability.’ Tax payers are now being perpetually mugged and gaslit by morally bankrupt politicians of all colours.
‘A body of men holding themselves accountable to nobody ought not to be trusted by anybody.’ -Thomas Paine
It’s done without your agreement, that’s how corrupt tax payer funding has become
Love the comment “All political parties in Parliament are socialist”….Is that why Natalie Elphicke is now in the Labour Party but Jeremy Corbyn isn’t!!!!!!!!!!
And the doctor that swapped sides. You could say same sh*t, different party.
The Uniparty red or blue or yellow are all on mission Schwab in WEFminster – no matter who you vote for, you get the same old self serving bilge
So they donated donated £100,000 that is actually known about.
What is the percent of what citizens are not told versus what citizens are told.
The climate change scam and the Net Zero scam have led to massive corruption throughout the supportive organisations and industries. The renewables industry, for example, is rife with corruption.
Exactly, it’s legalised tax money laundering to globalist elites
The issue is but one of many, where tax-payers money is being diverted to matters that are not of direct benefit to tax-payers. There really needs to be an audit of how these tranches of tax-payers money is allocated and, more importantly by whom was that authorisation made: by name, position held in which department of state or any one of the many entities funded by public monies. That is transparency, so beloved of government.
Isn’t that the Public Accounts Committee? I must assume that is also corrupt and under socialist/Marxist control, along with the rest of the civil service and public institutions.
Time to call in the authorities and bring on the court action with jail terms for everyone directly involved. These scum bags are precisely the people who are destroying public trust in our authorities. Its a shame that under Sunak this current government are pathetic and completely useless and I have absolutely no trust in Sunak ever doing the right thing. He did absolutely nothing when Starmer broke commons rules by directly coercing the speaker of the house. That episode should have meant immediate suspension, but Sunak did nothing. Nothing will ever happen under Sunak because he cant perform a damned thing. He should go back to hiding away in boardroom banking in his bland grey suit and pretend he is important.
Sunak was allowed to become PM on condition that he changed nothing.
Tory government uses taxpayers money to set up a think rank, think tank donates its time and ideas to Labour. Tories shrug and say “no problem” as they would do the same as Labour anyway. Think tank staff pay themselves six figure salaries and pat themselves on the back. Taxpayers get screwed but whine about stuff that doesn’t scre them over.
Yup, that about sums it up
Yes, this is now too obvious for most people to ignore. Its happening on a cross-party basis too. All main stream parties with the help of mainstream media have adopted the same policies in most key areas; immigration, brexit, climate crisis, green taxes, defence spending, social and education. Should one party dare to go against the consensus, they are rounded upon and attacked for holding extremist views. It wont be long now before the consensus will become unsustainable and the very thing that MP’s think they are preventing will become a reality and the extremists will take over.
People want and need leaders, not wet puppets like Sunak.
People want and need leaders,
I don’t want or need a “leader”. I want competent civil servants and competent politicians.
And honest ones?
