From the “Do They Think We Are Really That Stupid” Department:

Flashback to 2009:

Capitalism and consumerism have brought the world to the brink of economic and environmental collapse, the Prince of Wales has warned in a grandstand speech which set out his concerns for the future of the planet.

The heir to the throne told an audience of industrialists and environmentalists at St James’s Palace last night that he had calculated that we have just 96 months left to save the world.

And in a searing indictment on capitalist society, Charles said we can no longer afford consumerism and that the "age of convenience" was over.

The Prince, who has spoken passionately about the environment before, said that if the world failed to heed his warnings then we all faced the "nightmare that for so many of us now looms on the horizon"

Looks like we have got 3 years to go!

Could this be the same Prince Charles who, last year, took his Royal Train on a 550 mile trip, and at a cost of £35000, to travel around the country just to visit:

1) Harry Potter’s castle

2) A brewery

3) An RAF station

Heaven forbid, this congenital idiot will probably be our next monarch.

No doubt he will be happy when we all return to serf like lives, abandon our nasty consumerism and do as we are told, just like in the good old days.

Perplexing!!! How on earth does he justify his own lifestyle? He really is a clown prince.

Somebody should ask our congenital idiot what would be the outcome when conversion to wind and solar is complete and everybody drives an electric car with a maximum range of 50 miles and the snows arrive? Answer… starvation!

Since 1689 Parliament has been supreme. It’s about time Parliament invites the Prince of Wales to abdicate in favour of his eldest son.

    God save the Queen

While I disagree with much of what Charles says on the topic of Climate Change, I don’t particularly see what is wrong with this trip.

“Harry Potter’s Castle” is in reality Alnwick Castle, the historic seat of the Duke of Northumberland.

If he is going to remain heir to the throne he should probably keep quiet about climate change.

Yeah, you could probably find better trips than this one to illustrate the hypocrisy. I seem to recall he wrote a diary of the Hong Kong handover in which he whinged at great length about the lack of room in his business class seat. And let’s not forget his regular (biannual?) skiing holidays.

It is a good thing that we Americans don’t have royal cretins like you Brits do. But I guess the Gores, the Clintons and Bushes are a pretty good imitation. Not to mention the Kennedys

The monarch reigns but does not rule. Americans do not seem to have grasped that. The Prince is badly advised but we have survived Kings who were even more badly manipulated by their advisers – see the reigns of the Stuarts . It’s better than having an executive President as so many countries do. Though they are also manipulated by their bureaucracies, it seems

@ M E Wood – most of us grasp that. But that does not mean we still agree with it.

As the deadline nears, it might be a good idea to have demonstrations outside Buckingham Palace just to remind the Prince (and his subjects) of his foolish, irresponsible prediction.
