Prince Charles flew 16,000 miles in just 11 days using three private jets and one helicopter before proudly posing with Greta Thunberg in Davos

Prince Charles was last night facing embarrassment after taking a series of private jet flights while lecturing world leaders about climate change.

On a trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos last week, the Prince met activist Greta Thunberg and used an electric Jaguar car to travel to the Swiss resort.

But the MoS can reveal that in the 11 days before his high-profile appearance, Charles took three flights on private jets for official Government business and one on a helicopter.

After his speech last Wednesday, during which he urged world leaders to take ‘bold and imaginative action’ on the environment, he took a fourth jet to Israel for an official trip.

Taking into account an additional five so-called ‘empty-leg’ flights required to collect the Prince, his jet and helicopter travel totalled more than 16,000 miles in less than a fortnight at an estimated cost to the taxpayer of £280,000.

Last night, a Clarence House spokesman said: ‘Global travel is an inescapable part of the Prince’s role as a senior member of the Royal Family representing the UK overseas.

‘When he travels he does so at the request of the British Government. He does not choose the destinations any more than he chooses the means by which the journeys are undertaken.’

According to the Paramount Business Jet calculator, which lets passengers work out their carbon emissions, the air travel will have emitted more than 162 metric tons of carbon – 18 times an average Briton’s annual total.

Muna Suleiman, of Friends Of The Earth, said: ‘Climate targets can’t be met without cutting pollution from aviation emissions, and private jets are a particularly wasteful way to travel.’

But a Royal source said: ‘The Prince has been campaigning against the dangers of global warming for 50 years.

‘As soon as there is a more efficient way of travelling, bearing in mind all the factors involved, he’ll be the first to adopt them.’

The string of flights began on January 11 when a Bombardier Global Express flew 944 miles from Austria to collect the Prince from his Birkhall residence in Scotland.

It flew him to Muscat, where he paid his respects on behalf of the Queen following the death of Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said. Palace aides said the trip was organised at less than 12 hours’ notice.

Last Wednesday, the Prince flew 750 miles by private jet from Scotland to Switzerland for the Davos summit.

Later that day he travelled 1,740 miles to Israel. Officials said a private jet was chosen for security reasons and the Prince only accepted the Davos invitation because it was on the way to Israel.

I am afraid that Royal’s defence of Charles really does not wash. We have been told, not least by Charles, that this is a global emergency and that there must be a radical change in the way we live our lives.

It simply is not good enough for them to insist on “business as usual”.

But, according to earlier clown-prince pronouncements we have long past the date when the earth could be saved, so it can’t make any difference how many unicorns he uses in his noble battle to turn back time.
Maybe a new Ladybird book is due.

In 1970 the world climate was still cooling. Bearing in mind the factors involved, Royal travel will still need petrol, especially for long-distance visits and return. Same for those attendees at climate conferences.

‘As soon as there is a more efficient way of travelling…’

But the planet will be doomed – DOOMED! – well before that, according to Charlie’s own alarmist rhetoric. Worse than a broken record.

So will we all, be the first to use the more efficient way of traveling when it come available. Until then we use the old style traveling to conduct our “services” to do one’s stint.

What surplus value do Charles add by all his flying paid by British taxpayers?

It appears to me that Davos is frankly a gathering of the world’s corporate elite – in an attempt to monetise nature and integrate it into large corporate business plans. No-one ‘owns’ nature – not even Prince Charles! Some of the commentary at Davos has included putting a figure on the world’s natural ecosystems. I hope I am not the only one here who finds this deeply disturbing and downright creepy. Perhaps this is why we have a ‘sudden’ deadly virus to ‘worry’ about. It takes eyeballs off the Davos convention – and puts people on a different agenda. This seems to be fairly common media practice these days?

as usual with the latest media scare they say xx are dead from it, but I remember hearing it was people with pre existing medical problems that died after exposure to this !!!
not sure if I heard that right, but sounds about right.

There are any number of books/films that portray our future society as intended by the UN and self-appointed global elite. Ignore the main plots, just look at the towns/housing, control of money/food/resources etc. The Hunger Games, The White King, Divergent etc. They all have one thing in common, the ruling elite live a very fine privileged life nothing like the miserable existence of the corralled and subjugated masses. The elite will be making excuses for not changing their behaviour until they have secured enough power to no longer need to bother to keep up the pretense.

The whole climate emergency narrative falls apart as soon as you question alarmists on the issue of China. They then resort to a justice agenda, citing our past emissions and China’s currently lower emissions per capita – thereby justifying China to ‘fairly’ catch up. Of course if it was a genuine emergency, when China’s overall emissions are so large and increasing so quickly, being fair would come secondary to saving the world.

Hypcrisy personified – which is what we have come to expect from this self-righteous royal for decades. Hope the Queen maintains good health and becomes a centurion – the thought of him ascending the throne fills me with foreboding.

Old jug ears is a complete embarrassment. Like many famous eco fascists he’s predicted the end of the world many times and yet his deadlines came and went. Like Attenborough, he’s lost his mind. Should be put in sheltered accommodation together.

      Hey Immune,

I worked in sheltered housing for years.
The majority were mighty fine people. I could not imagine Attenborough and Charlie being anything but a disruptive influence in a unit.
What a pity most of the good old asylums were closed.

    What a f–kwitted kn-bhead.
Charlie boy & co are the worst hypocrites – lecturing us out here in struggle street meanwhile giving their CO2 producing jaunts a right workout.

Yes, but these are social justice and save the planet miles. These are not Boris and Trump fascist miles.

    The “on the way” excuse
” the Prince only accepted the Davos invitation because it was on the way to Israel.”
The fallacy is thinking that 2 half journeys = one big one
.. cos actually you have to take off twice so you use far more fuel
Prince flew 750 miles by private jet from Scotland to Switzerland for the Davos summit.
and then 1,740 miles to Israel.

We know with Harry and Meghan ..they don’t really try to fly zero times

Just another elite hypocrite (and in Chuck’s case, also inbred) like virtually everyone at Davos. And I gag every time I hear Thunberg’s name. What a mean and nasty little fascist. I loved it when Trump ignored her at the UN.

Never mind the air miles, have you seen the size of the house Prince Charles lives in?

    https://www.royal.uk/royal-residences-clarence-house

True, it doubles up as an office but it still seems excessive to me when he is so concerned about CC. Must take a fortune to heat and not a solar panel in sight. Lots of rooms for 2 people essentially.

“air travel will have emitted more than 162 metric tons of carbon”
Surely it’s Carbon dioxide? Or was his plane emitting coal or perhaps even diamonds?
Why do they always refer to carbon which is a bit different to an invisible trace gas?
May be wrong of course – not a scientist

Every single alarmist should answer this question. Why should the world adopt a medieval lifestyle if not one single proponent of AGW lives by the rules they design for the rest of us. Not even Greta. Why would we believe a word they say when they just do the exact thing that supposed to kill us? Why is Obama believed that we will all drown when he buys beachfront property? Does the Prince even know what a fool he is?

I think it’s because they are completely deluded and climate change is a religion which of course is based on faith not facts.

Factor in the condescending nature of Charles and his ilk. It would seem that followers of the CC faith think they are superior beings mentally and morally and should put us mere peasants in our places. They obviously have no guilt about flying which they hate the rest of us doing.

As for Greta she’s a product of the UN’s UNESCO wide spread brainwashing cult where they have taken over school curriculums across the Western World.

Charles is an easy one to work out. Born in to wealth, prestige and a freebie lifestyle he feels superior to us mere peasants and has no guilt about flying around the world lecturing others not do so.

Greta is simply a product of the UN UNESCO climate brainwashing curriculum which they now control in schools all across Europe, Australia and the USA. Nearly every lessons main topic is climate change.

On here we know it’s BS but you can see that it’s effective as children have eco anxiety across the world and you see many children at XR rallies in the media. The UN is truly evil, the archetypal Bond villain would be proud to be this destructive as they seek to control the world.
