Readers will recall that Philippe Verdier, France’s leading TV weatherman, was suspended from his job a couple of weeks ago for having the temerity to challenge global warming dogma.

It now appears that things have moved on. According to change.org, who have organised a petition against the suspension:

Thank you all for your support that has increased massively these last days.
Unfortunately, events are accelerating: Philippe Verdier is now subject to a dismissal procedure initiated by France Télévisions. We must therefore continue the fight to show our commitment to freedom of speech.
Inform your family, friends, local politicians, associations, unions…
As you know, this is not only the climate issue that is at stake. It is a matter of freedom of speech.
Our hope is in you.

Please sign their petition here:

I thought it was virtually impossible to sack anyone in France, least of all a government employee.

Climate ‘heretics’ must be in some special category.

Pathetic suppression of freedom of speech. Absolutely feeble stuff.

Paul, As I recall the letter is going to a snout with vested interests including in the UK.

The same individual was imposed into that position.

It stinks. Took me a few minutes to find the start.
