UK Left Behind, As China and India Charge Ahead, Says The Delusional AEP

According to the absurd AEP, the UK is falling behind China and India in the global race for decarbonisation:

I suggest he takes head out of the sand, and look at the actual data from BP, which just happens to show he is talking through his hat.

Despite investing billions in renewable energy, it is still coal which both China and India rely almost wholly on to keep their economies running. The idea that this will change in my or AEP’s lifetime is ridiculous, not least because both countries realise that they cannot run on unreliable, weather dependent renewables alone, no matter how much AEP believes otherwise.

Why does the Telegraph continue to print this puerile rubbish?

    Typo alert Paul!

“I suggest he takes head out of the sand ….”

    You misspelt ‘his arse’.

Why? Follow the money…. those in control of what “The Telegraph” prints (or their close friends or family) are almost certainly making money from the solar/wind/electric vehicle/cladding/carbon storage scam.

Hi Janice! Nice to see you here.
I really don’t care how much wind the Chinese install: the more the merrier. They will not benefit from it. No matter how much wind you install: when the wind don’t blow….

He referred to Carbon Brief, which claims to be a fact checker that in reality makes up its own junk science and quotes other science out of context to deny the real peer reviewed science. Just the use of Carbon brief to support Bloomberg’s assertions is enough to tell you the story is not based on objective interpretation of the facts. If anyone is interested I can point out one I ran into as regards the evidence for the MWP and RWP and supporting claims that now is as warm as the RWP, And other BS.

Carbon Brief ,perhaps inadvertently, did once come up with an interesting fact and that was that coal fired power production in the world doubled between 2000 and 2020. I often insert this in comments and point out that this means there are plenty of coal fired power plants with a long life ahead of them.

Indeed there are 700GW of coal fired plants 0-9 years old and 650GW 10-20 years old, over 580GW under 50 years old and 120GW 50 +

Coal consumption in China and India both reached new highs in 2021 whilst consumption rose 15% in the US and 14% in the EU ( IEA Coal Market Update July 2022)

The truth is so boring! Perhaps it won’t be so boring when our lights go out and we have to watch Netflix on a laptop with a battery running out. And we won’t be able to go for a spin in the leccy car tomorrow because it couldn’t be charged.

“Carbon Brief says China is on track to double installed wind and solar to 1,200
    gigawatts by 2026 …”

Wow, that’s a big number. No wonder AEP was impressed.

Without context, they’re near-meaningless – or designed to fool the gullible.

China’s fleet of wind turbines generates at only 25% – half the capacity factor of its coal/thermal fleet (51%CF); and its solar panels at 15% – less than 1/3rd that of coal.

    https://chinaenergyportal.org/en/2021-electricity-other-energy-statistics-preliminary/

Back in April, China People’s Daily informed

“China has achieved an ultra-low emission coal power unit of more than 1 billion kilowatts” (1,000GW)

As of the end of 2021, China had achieved more than 1 billion kilowatts of ultra-low emission coal power units, nearly 900 million kilowatts of energy conservation transformation scale, and more than 100 million kilowatts of flexible transformation scale.”

And how has he done that? Sterling is now stronger, BoE intervention has been tiny, nothing else has changed.

That the media went into overdrive to try and reverse a small tax cut, and gullible people became hysterical thanks to the media isn’t anything to be proud of.

        “…nothing else has changed…”

The cocksure Lefty Establishment along with the Conservative Wets has – as usual – ejaculated prematurely. It has merely made it more certain than ever that there will be no General Election.
And who knows; the British Public might grow a backbone before it happens.

The self-identification of this same Left everywhere with Wokism is become a trap for them. Socialism is not ‘against human nature’ but Wokism certainly is. In Canada, of all trendy silly places, DISAPPROVAL of Trudeau has risen to 53%. That is what happens when you smugly endorse country-wide arson against Churches as “understandable.” It is certainly true that Trudeau also does not have to call a General Election, but the Liberal Party of Canada is ‘all about the money’ and thinks ahead and may defenestrate him soon.

Great comment on that article Paul.
For those in the UK who rely wholly upon the daily newspapers and TV channels that have been ‘bought’ by the government, propaganda articles such as those of AEP are all that they see. And thus believe.

For the rest of us who are prepared to do our own research by reading and watching alternate news sources containing actual facts, AEP’s articles are nonsense.

Fortunately (and thanks to people like you Paul), at least half of the western world are waking up the fact that the climate has been changing since the world began and will continue to do so. They now pay no heed to the poppycock being preached that ‘the climate wouldn’t change if it wasn’t for us humans doing ‘blah, blah, blah’.

Worse, it’s bad economics. “Dominance of clean tech” is complete nonsense. If a country dominates that, we will “dominate” something else. That’s how it works. We just buy the clean tech. No problem.

AEP is yet another fool seduced by Industrial Strategy.

‘Washington has launched a half-trillion Manhattan Project for clean energy and the electrical grid, if you combine the climate package (IRA) and the infrastructure package.’

The Democrats learned a few years ago they could launder tax money into the hands of friends of Obama through “green” projects. See: Solyndra. That’s all this is. And yes, it is still friends of OBAMA. Biden is just his front man.

‘Mr Liebriech said the US is “laying down the gauntlet to Europe and Asia” in climate technology.’

What Amby doesn’t realize he is saying is, “Look how stupid the Americans are! You should be stupid, too!”

AE-P is devoid of savvy. That should be fatal for a newspaper man.

Gamecock’s prediction (of the future): If the Republicans win control of the House and Senate in the mid-term elections next month, the lame duck Dems will pass a massive “Saving-the-planet” spending bill, as it will be their last chance to raid the Treasury for awhile.

Democrat propaganda. ‘Manhattan project’ is considered a positive term, so they apply it to their project.

Like how they use “democracy.” They couldn’t %^&*ing care less about democracy. They use the term because focus groups identified it as a positive word.

Everything the Left says is a calculated deception. The issue is never the issue.
