China doubles down on coal ahead of potential summer blackouts

That’s funny! I thought China was going to build lots of new solar farms!

China plans to accelerate the approval of new coal mines and fast track the construction of already approved mines to support its baseload energy supply during demand spikes, Liang Changxin, an official from the National Energy Administration (NEA), said on Wednesday.
Peak energy demand is expected to exceed 1.36 billion kilowatts this summer, representing a "significant increase on last year", Liang added.
Some provinces could face power cuts this summer as a result, the NEA official warned.
China’s energy consumption typically spikes in the summer months due to household demand for air conditioning.
This, combined with a related slump in power from hydro sources due to low rainfall, led to a wave of blackouts across southwest China last year.
Officials have repeatedly stressed the role of coal as a "ballast stone" in the energy mix amid a national energy security drive, even as the country attempts to transition toward a greener, renewables-led power system.

When the Chinese a running things here in the west, they will build them here too.
Good luck to the anti fracking protestors too!

While the EU sweats though their sheets, the CCP will be cool as an English cucumber this Summer. Wear your pit-stained shirts to the office to virtue signal your co-workers.

And there it is.The difference between Chinese wisdom and Western foolishness.

I can see Michael Bloomberg issuing a strong statement condemning the Chinese for there CO2 emissions. Just kidding.

Ever since he’s become an apologist for China, his personal fortune has increased by a factor of 20. He’ll tell Americans we need to buy as many electric cars as the Chinese do and that he can get us a great deal on them. Oh, and they must be powered by solar panels and wind turbines made in China.

The difference between the Chinese government and tose in the West is that there are many with engineering knowledge in China whereas western governments are devoid.

I can vaguely recall a Chinese minister stating his amazement that our energy minister was not an engineer.

None of our ministers have any expertise in their portfolios – some may say no expertise in anything at all apart from expenses troughing, a sense of entitlement and a nose for anyone offering them some cash/freebies – as was highlighted that none of our chancellors have ever been charted accountants. The nearest anyone came was when Liz Truss was PM.

It’s also true that very few (if any) senior civil servants have expertise in their area of responsibility.

The liar Blair and his liar-in-chief Campbell were responsible for destroying our once respected independent civil service by putting in political apparatchiks and driving our the best people.

What’s that those telling us to pretend the Chinese are Green and the Chinese have in common? Hatred of the West.
Once you see the core of what this is all about it’s very straight forward really.

Solar farms in China are just window-dressing while they get on with building coal-fired power stations.

“Answer 1118 in UK, 2 in China.”

The British Empire might still exist if this were true!
