More warmist nonsense from the Eastern Daily Press:

Norfolk doctor Hayley Pinto makes an appeal for us all to take action as world leaders prepare for a crucial meeting on climate change.

I am a doctor working locally for the NHS.

Given the state of things you would think I would be writing to you about that. As worried as I am about the NHS, there is something far more important happening that I believe most people are unaware of.

As a doctor I believe in the principle of informed consent. If a patient has a serious condition, I believe they have the right to know and to be given unbiased information about available treatments.

We (jointly) have a life-threatening condition and we are not being told: in fact, we are being actively misled. This is the truth. We are on the brink of making our planet uninhabitable, not just for polar bears – for people.

Many people still say it’s not proven but 97 per cent of scientists agree about this. If 97 doctors told you that you had a serious illness and three said you didn’t (and they were being paid to say that), who would you believe?

Fact: climate change is the biggest threat to public health – more than drugs, smoking and obesity. It’s not just green activists saying this. Even the head of the International Monetary Fund has said: “Unless we take action on climate change, future generations will be roasted, toasted, fried and grilled.”

Climate change is urgent – it is affecting us now and it will get worse rapidly. In some parts of the world it is already critical. One example – Syria has had an unstable regime for a long time but the war was sparked by four years of unprecedented drought, which drove the farmers into the cities. The resulting migrant crisis is now on our doorstep.

This is only one way climate change will affect us. The World Wildlife Fund says we have already lost half the world’s wildlife. Many more areas are suffering drought, leading to severe wildfires; the northern boreal forests are dying due to pests spreading because the winters aren’t cold enough; the glaciers which feed some of the world’s most important rivers are disappearing, as is the arctic ice.

In Norfolk we are vulnerable to sea level rise which, coupled with the more extreme weather climate change brings, leads to more frequent and severe coastal surges and erosion, sudden downpours and floods (more people losing their homes), but also less steady rain through the year to water our crops.

Eighteen months ago I didn’t know all this. I “sort of” knew climate change existed, I did a bit of recycling, but didn’t really think about it. My interest was triggered by an article in the British Medical Journal and since then I have made a point of finding out.

What I have discovered has shocked me, and it has shocked me that I didn’t know.

I am a mother as well as a doctor. By the time my teenage children are my age, the world could be a very different and scary place. Yes, that’s the timescale. For the sake of my children, for the world I love, I can’t sit back and do nothing about this. Make no mistake, that is all it will take – just carrying on as we are. No-one has to push a button for this apocalypse to happen.

We are the last generation that has a chance to do something. If I thought there was nothing to be done, I would stick my head back in the sand, but we are also being lied to about the lack of solutions. Many people ask “are we all supposed to go back to living in caves”? Of course not.

The truth is, there is hope, lots of it.

We have the technology to tackle this. What we must do is invest in it and use it. We are told this will destroy our economies. Not true. The changes needed build small companies, democratise power generation, provide jobs and improve our mental and physical health. The window of opportunity to do this is rapidly closing, though. We need more than individuals changing their light bulbs. We need our policy makers to agree significant and binding commitments to legislate for change.

World leaders are meeting in Paris this December. They are under immense pressure from lobbyists and will only agree the changes we need if they know we want it. The secretary general of the United Nations has said: “There is no plan B because there is no planet B.” He has asked for people to let their governments know.

1) FACT – Climate change is the biggest threat to public health – more than drugs, smoking and obesity.

Really, Hayley? What on earth have you been smoking?

2) Many more areas are suffering drought?

Wrong again Hayley. Why don’t you check the facts before you open your mouth and put your foot in it?

3) Glaciers?

Don’t you know that these have been receding since the mid 19thC?

4) Extreme weather?

I think you must have been at the Kool Aid! If you really want to put today’s weather into perspective, perhaps you should read this analysis from the Eastern Daily Press last year.

I could go on.

Do you really think people’s health would be better with the return of the cold climate of the Little Ice Age?

Do you really think they would be better off with shorter growing seasons and lower harvests?

Do you not realise that grinding poverty in countries like India could be relieved by economic growth, which only cheap, fossil fuelled energy will bring?

Are you not concerned at the increasing fuel poverty in this country, caused by our obsession with expensive renewable energy?

Scientists in future will look back at the present era and conclude that otherwise rational people have been the victims of some sort of mass hypnosis.

She’s not nutty, just misguided by shoddy projections by others published in MSM.

Looks to me like obesity will be much more of a threat to Hayley and her female offspring than CC.

She’s wetting her hemp knickers over a whopping 0.8c temperature rise in the past, ooh, 160 years. Scary. Too pathetic for words.

What’s trending is the idea that all of the world’s problems can be restated in terms of climate change and then solved by cutting emissions.

Sadly, there is far more truth in what you say than most will think at first read. What also most people don’t consider is that the increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is almost precisely on the same track as the increase in population. After all, each of us sucks in air and blows our 30,000 or so CO2 molecules every breath. And to be honest, THAT is the way they wish to resolve the carbon dioxide problem – reducing the population. And they are positioned well to do that since they are decreasing farm land for food and making it more difficult to afford energy to stay warm. If they don’t get rid of you by starving you to death, they will damn well try to freeze you to death.

Isn’t it strange that so many doctors and nurses feel so strongly another CAGW.

Their diagnosis skills on subjects they are untrained in are quite poor to say the least.

I agree their diagnosis skills are worrying, I wouldn’t want her to be attending me in a medical emergency. Another 97% gullible fool joins the useful idiots army. The high priests of co2 will be pleased.

If you were my doctor publishing this garbage I would fire you on the spot. Since when did a fact consist of total lies? This 97% of scientists you speak of. You do realise it’s actually a bunch of clerks that form the 97%. The notion that they are 95% certain, is ludicrous. What algorithm is used to calculate certainty among scientists. I am thinking of starting a petition to get you struck off as a doctor as you clearly have no understanding of science. God help your patients.

What is it about East Anglia that it’s CAGW central?

By the way, on the BBC website today, under the heading: “What is climate change?”, spot the lies, distortions and propaganda. Nice graph of greenhouse gas emissions by type, deliberately creating the impression that CO2 is the biggest greenhouse gas. Water vapour gets a dismissive mention a couple of paragraphs later, but the graph has already done the damage by then (no doubt deliberately):

I really wish the ‘97%’ could be nailed and shown for what it is and so stop it from being used to justify this and all the other garbage that flies beneath its flag.

If indeed she is a doctor recently converted by the green pseudo science, the GMC should be alarmed that one of their number comes to her diagnosis on the basis of the utterances of the IMF.
That this letter was written by a practicing doctor I find hard to believe. It has all the hallmarks of a graduate from a simpleton’s course at the UEA, paid to promote fairy-tales to the simpleminded.

Could not help but notice Haley’s THREE children. So, she has added significantly to the CO2 output. Why is it these folks always want us to suffer the consequences of their dire predictions while exempting themselves? We should drive motorized baby carriages, we should do w/o heat, we should do w/o electricity, we should not have children, we should be sent to “death panels” and eliminated as soon as possible. Should they not lead the way?

Doctors of all people should be aware of contra indications. Yet this one has seemingly made no effort to look into any possible contra indications in climate science. Just another gullible numpty. Quite how anyone can think that 97% of any kind of scientist can agree about anything is puzzling. I guess some people just like to be pack animals and not have to think for themselves.

  14. October 24, 2015 10:46 pm

Oh, my God! How can anyone make such statements??? A doctor….. meaning a scientist…. I wonder if she really understands the climate terms that she’s using….

Looks like she’s projecting ie that she has taken over the mental traits of the patients she treats ie She’s an ‘addiction psychiatrist’ who has become addicted to delusional climate alarmism.
: Here’s what she wrote in the Guardian
“Dr Hayley Pinto, addiction psychiatrist I am an addiction psychiatrist, lead clinican for a service covering the county of Norfolk. Climate change will affect us all. People at the extremes of the age spectrum, the poor, ill, and pregnant will be hit first and the group I work with will suffer earlier than most. However, eventually no one will be spared. There is no Ark.”:

(delusional, cos what she states is CERTAINTY beyond the evidence)

Paul 2 points “she says “18 months ago” yet she wrote those same words 4 months ago so it should be “22 months ago”, This EDP article is just an advert for the propaganda film days, so she’s simply rehashed that old one…see how it ends
\\come to the free films “Years of Living Dangerously” (by the director of Avatar) at Cinema City in Norwich at 10.15 every Sunday morning until November 22;//
all she has done is re-use an article she wrote for thenorwichradical.com in June
