Elon Musk calls British diver in Thai cave rescue ‘pedo’ in baseless attack

Elon Musk came under fire on Sunday after launching an extraordinary attack on a British diver who helped rescue the boys trapped in a flooded cave in Thailand, baselessly calling him a “pedo” on Twitter and then doubling down.
Twelve boys and their football coach were rescued from the Tham Luang cave complex by an international team and after a week of intense drama.
The chief executive of the tech giant Tesla offered to assist the rescue mission by providing a submarine. The request was turned down. Musk lashed out on Sunday, saying he would make a video proving that his “mini-sub” would have been successful and adding: “Sorry pedo guy, you really did ask for it.”
The accusation, presented without evidence or context, was directed at Vern Unsworth, a British cave explorer who recently said Musk’s attempt to help the rescue effort was a “PR stunt”. No evidence has emerged to substantiate Musk’s claim of pedophilia.
“It just had absolutely no chance of working,” Unsworth said in a widely shared interview. “He had no conception of what the cave passage was like. The submarine, I believe, was about 5ft 6in long, rigid, so it wouldn’t have gone round corners or round any obstacles.”

On Sunday, when a Twitter user pointed out that Musk was “calling the guy who found the children a pedo”, the billionaire responded: “Bet ya a signed dollar it’s true.”

No need to crowdfund – the entire ambulance-chasing side of the legal profession salivated at the prospect of their impending pension boost.
Elon has not checked off the “racist” and “sexual harassment” boxes yet. Perhaps he could work this into an “illegal immigrant” smear since the object of his scorn is British and in Thailand. No, wait, Elon favors illegal immigration. Can it be tied to “climate change?” Elon has miles to go before he leaps…into the abyss of abject stupidity.
On the one hand Musk uses politics and connections to extort vast wads of cash from the masses in the name of supposedly green electric cars, pointless solar, and wasteful futile large scale battery storage.
Then he pursues the massively wasteful polluting indulgence of space tourism/exploration.
Calling a hero a ‘pedo’ is probably the least of his ‘crimes’.
Stunt. Sounds very similar to what I was thinking.
It will be such a joyous day when Tesla collapses and goes bankrupt. Perhaps Muskrat will be taken away in a white coat with long sleeves.
I have been forecasting the downfall of the conman, Enron Musk, for some time.
Lubos Motl has a good analysis of the gravity-defying Tesla share price and just how quickly it could go belly-up.
It would really make my day.
Better still if Enron ended up in clink for fraud.
He has always struck me as an unpleasant character. It seems to be a common feature of most of those with their snout in the public trough.

Nope, standard practice for Messiah complex “progressives”, some of whom can’t disguise their intolerance of dissent, and are quick to smear opponents when they have lost the technical argument, which is that a rigid structure is unsuitable for navigating small passages in caves.

In the real world bearing false witness is a really bad thing.
Strewth he just can’t help opening his enormous fat gob, surely, such awful calumniation speaks more to the inadequacies of the accusant.
Elon Musk is his own biggest fan and the saviour of the world (sarcasm). I hope the Brit diver sues him to force a public retraction. Money is no object for him as he apparently has an unending supply from gullible investors.

A man who has the naivete to think that underwater caving is not far removed from travelling on the Tube/Metro. Words fail.
If Musk can’t back up his libel in court then he will be sending a few million dollars to Thailand. Ironically that may make him realise that he should concentrate on getting Tesla sorted instead of getting involved with everything else that crops up in the world.
If Tesla don’t sort themselves out soon they will squander any lead they had on the much more professional mass car makers who will before long bring a better sorted, more reliable product which offers real choice to market, and that will drop Tesla to that of a niche manufacturer, if that.
Tesla; a cat driven by rich people, partially paid for by the middle class, driven on roads the rich guy does not pay for, but the middle class does, often refilled by the working class hero, while the rich guy drives off for free.
