Met Office Try To Hide Forecast Fail

Paul Matthews uncovers the Met Office’s attempt to hide its failed global temperature projections:

The Met Office have today issued their latest piece of warmest propaganda, Forecast suggests Earth’s warmest period on record.

It includes this graph, showing observations (black), forecast (blue) and previous forecasts (red).

The climate scientists quoted seem to be in denial of the recent cooling shown in their own graph, claiming that the Earth’s average global temperature has ‘remained close’ to the 2015 peak.

But notice that in the graph there is a gap from 2015-2019, with no previous forecast shown there. Why would that be? Is it because the Met Office didn’t make any forecasts for that period?

Well, in fact they did. Here is the Decadal Forecast 2016 (confusingly, published in Jan 2017), which included this graph:

it was wonderful to see the BBC interpret the forecasts were a “close match” to actual temperatures, when clearly they are not.
Also that the MO were predicting a 1.5 degree rise, when even Roger Harrabin had to admit that there was only a 10% chance of that happening.

It’s just another example of the Met Office corruption, aided and abetted by the BBC.

I honestly think that the BBC news presenters are too stupid to realise when they are being duped.

Why should they be anything else, they get paid by all those generous licence fee payers whatever they say.

How will these forecasters make good to the thousands, millions maybe, of people whose lives they are ruining by reduced standard of living and reduced opportunity by wrecking industry and manufacture in their drive to cut CO2?

(Correction to my previous comment which should be deleted )-

The #BiasedBBC ran with it and to be honest I paid little attention, however, I am curious to know whether or not they included the Met Office’s own qualification to the prediction:

“Forecasts are experimental, so at this early stage of development expert advice is needed to assess the reliability of regional predictions”

I stumbled though across a curious report on the Met Office team blog regarding a decision by the BBC to stop using forecasts from the Met Office!

The graph has gone AWOL from your post. Did the MO disappear it?

The meja are full of these claims of “Doom” while all the graphs actually show (with considerable doubt even then) is that the temperature of the earth has risen by at most 0.9 to 1 deg K since 1875: that is 100/144 degK / century = 0.7 deg K / century. This is more or less the natural rate of recovery from the little ice age that was just ending then and should be a cause of joy not despair! There is certainly no evidence of an acceleration despite all of there efforts to create one.

The newspapers also are using the model predictions still to claim future loss of crops etc. despite the abject failure of these to explain anything about the historical climate changes.

The only thing accelerating, apart from their self-delusion, is the volume of warmist propaganda.

In fact, it seems that, in the words of a (former?) BBC weather presenter, the Met Office have been revising their 10 year forecasts down since 2013!

Warmest decade claim – true 67 times since 1850 (HADCRUT)
    – true 23 times from 1910-2007 for the UK
    – true 24 times from 1659 – 2006 for CET

The wonders of slow natural warming.

      “…slow natural warming.”

The basic rate of which is constrained to around 1/100 of a degree C per year by virtue of the heat sink that is the world-wide ocean (1,600 times more heat capacity than the atmosphere).

What about all the glaciers that are forecast to melt away by 2100??

If the Met Office was required to meet the standards of science,
it would have nothing to talk about.

Keep watching – as the past keeps-on cooling at 1.5 degrees per century.
