The DMI has just published its Greenland Climate Data Collection for last year, and it is worth looking at the temperature data:

There are six stations with long records, Upernavik, Nuuk, Ilulissat, Qaqortoq, Narsarsuaq and Tasilaq.

Throughout Greenland we find that temperatures in the last two decades are little different to the 1920s to 60s.

The only exceptions were 2010 on the west coast sites, which was an unusually warm year, and 2016 on the east coast at Tasilaq, another warm year there.

Noticeably, last year was actually colder than the 1981-2010 average at all of the west and south coast stations.

It is also noticeable that temperatures during the very cold interval at all sites during the 1970s and 80s were comparable to the late 19thC, when Greenland beginning to struggle out of the Little Ice Age. This can be seen best in the DMI’s SW Greenland Series:

Be very wary when ever anybody tells you how much Greenland has warmed in the last thirty years.

You are absolutely correct and I love the charts. I am NOT a global warming believer like mostlibs and other idiots who believe that nonsense and I will share your posting with those who bow donw to the global warming gurus like AOC (hahahaha) who claim we have to stop having CO2 – on which life depends. Thanks for posting this!

It would be far easier to stop having AOC’s than CO2 and a lot more satisfying.

This reminds me of the attempts to remove the 1930s warming from Iceland that you exposed last year sometime.

The tragedy is that none of the AGW advocates will even consider that the “scientists” could be wrong. The media brainwashing-machine is almost unbeatable apart from the common-sense of the common people who long ago learned to distrust “their betters”, and who continue to ignore the barrage of lies being fed to them.

Again, in repeating myself, it doesn’t matter what the data show about Greenland, Iceland, the Arctic, the Antarctic, each hemisphere or both together. Or whether any of it is right or wrong.

What matters is what humanity can, could, might do about it. The clear answer is NOTHING even close to meaningful. Removing CO2 quantitatively long-term, is hopeless when one sees, realizes, calculates that just ONE ppmv of oxidized carbon (CO2) is, by mass, almost eight BILLION tonnes. Current CCS “negative emission” technologies operate only in MILLIONS of tonnes per annum…about 1.5 Mpta sequestered. Do the math on low long it will take… 8000 Mpta divided by 1.5 Mpta…And then the cost, per tonne? Thousands of years and many trillions. And for just ONE ppmv of oxidized carbon? Never mind going back to 350 ppm.

If this is wrong, miscalculated, misguided, someone please provide a better more correct answer. The several risky geoengineering attempts being suggested to take over the Earth’s climate (and global economies) leave all of us “shareholders” at stake. The wrong path is in front of us?

Stark numbers, which I’ve put to my MP to ask BEIS for their answer. I won’t hold my breath.

Joan – the world NEEDS and is desperate for C02!! All living things need it to grow. Get a copy of The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming by Marc Morano. He cites an “Expert” that says the C02 level in the world today is the smallest it has ever been. Don’t worry about the morons like AOC, the 20 DEM candidates, the Weather Channel etc that say the earth is dying or there is too much C02 – laugh instead and wonder if they will get ulcers from worrying about nonsense.

One of Earth’s fastest-shrinking glaciers is growing again

Six years ago, the Jakobshavn glacier was retreating about 1.8 miles and thinning nearly 130 feet annually but it started growing again at about the same rate in the past two years, according to a study in Monday’s Nature Geoscience.

    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/glacier-growing-melting-jakobshavn-glacier-in-greenland-is-growing-again-a-new-nasa-study-finds/

How does it do it when Greenland is so ‘hot’?

Paul, NO thanks for those charts !!

I’ve just had an irate phone call from someone I’ve spent the last year persuading that Greenland is not going to melt overnight & CAGW is a crock of shit; as part of his training I got him to read this site.

Now, having seen those charts, he is convinced that I’m a lying denier, this site is suspect, & will tell all mutual acquaintances that I’m not to be trusted. (Try convincing anyone that a headmaster can’t read a chart !)

    • DONT USE ANOMALY CHARTS •

That’s what the alarmists do because most people don’t understand them & assume 0°C = freezing point; (therefore in this case – the average annual temperature of SW Greenland appearers to be ~ +1°C ).

WE always need to show Absolute data,
(if you have to use anomaly’s; FFS show what the baseline is).

Sorry for the rant, but appen I’m reight Vexed.

Sadly the recent spell of Easterly winds in the UK have gone on to be Southerly winds in Greenland and sea-ice is now relatively low there, so brace for more comedy wailing from the usual suspects.

Unfortunately these are DMI graphs, not mine, and they do not publish the data so I can do my own
