Guido has news of the Dim’s latest hypocrisy:

The LibDems were one of the first parties to jump on board the “climate emergency” bandwagon, although they’ve not always managed to practice what they preach. This LibDem down in Leiston, Suffolk doesn’t seem to have got the memo either, they’ve plastered Lib Dem decals all over what appears to be a gas-guzzling 2004 Land Rover Discovery. Looks far too professional to just be a LibDem superfan, Guido suspects it is a local organiser of some sort…

The EU set a target of 130 g/km CO2 emissions in 2015, this is falling further to 95 g/km in 2021. Meanwhile the Lib Dem Land Rover is happily chugging out a whopping 284 g/km – three times the EU’s incoming target. Some “climate emergency”…

But one of his readers has the perfect solution to the climate emergency!

Hell yeahh I would like that. I was always in favor of giving people exactly what they claim they want. Want Communism? Let’s make sure that you have to wait in line for a loaf of bread and some milk for 2 hours every day. Want Islamism? Get stripped of anything that reeks of modern amenities – your mobile phone first. Want to live the Climate Change Alarmist credo? Pay the full price for all those things and be interrupted when nature does not play ball. Those people spit at the system but they are all too happy to live off it. The Austrian Green party used a diesel bus for their election campaigning. They said that EV’s don’t give them the range they need and are hard to manage. No wonder they were kicked out of parliament during the last election.

Brilliant. It’s the same for the SJWs who say they think they should be paying more tax. Well what’s stopping you writing a cheque to HMRC and popping it in the post. These people should put up or shut up.

Behind the vehicle there looks like what might be a cable. Is it an electric on charge?

In a 2004 model registered at 293g/km emissions? It’s probably got a motorised buffing and polishing disk on the other end.

293? Amateurs! 395 on my 6 litre Jeep.

“Behind the vehicle there looks like what might be a cable. Is it an electric on charge?” No, it’s Vince Cable.

difficult to tell from the pic, John, but I would have thought it is more likely the cable from a pressure-washer. The vehicle does look pristine clean. My comment is. of course, not possible because in a climate emergency the owner would have washed the vehicle by hand to save on electricity.

This is appalling. I’m an out & out CO2 AGW disbeliever, I’ve done my homework and I have a science degree. I cannot see the general populace, who haven’t yet looked seriously into the alleged Climate Extinction Crisis, will in any way go along with this claptrap.

Me too. I have been saying the same for years – are we simply a silent majority? The problem is that the “general populace” are very gullible and unquestioning hence the lapping up of any and all scare mongering clap trap thrown at them by our utterly flawed leadership. Yes, it is appalling.

Greenery is a farrago of lies. What a disaster our elite all-knowing, all competent, ruling classes have been fooled/corrupted/dazzled ny it.
At stake is OUR country, so, as in 1791, a job for revival of the guillotine is called for, with some famous names righly lined up, Many of them, as Remainers, should have no qualms.

Brilliant! I did recommend, in response to an older post, that such an experiment should be first trialled in Brighton, whose constituents seem content to repeatedly return a Green MP, who seems equally content to return them to the Stone Age. Be careful what you wish for folks. Apologies to the few sentient human beings of that parish who actually follow sites such as this, understand the lunacy of Green dogma and the ultimate consequences of such self destructive policies.

Doesn’t matter, they’d be locked up in any case because the tires are polluting more than with an ICE, due to the additional vehicle weight.

Biofuels are 10% ethanol and 90% fossil. They are designed and marketed to be used, not to store fossil carbon long-term. The ethanol is made from vegetation that is replacing agricultural food. Food even for those so concerned about the climate that they won’t eat meat from animals dependent on that food. They prefer dining on the vegetation sequestering CO2? Irony?

      • July 16, 2019 3:17 pm

@Broadlands you are out of your depth
EU fuels have a target of 10% biofuel component.
        Biofuels are 100% bio.

Theresa May’s Holiday Will Cost Us Dear!

A note written in response to the passing of Net Zero CO2 emission policy in the UK House of Commons.
When will people realise that any CO2 reduction policy should also be seen in a longer-term context:
    · The modern short pulse of beneficial Global warming stopped ~20 years ago and recent global temperatures are now stable or declining.
    · According to reliable Ice Core records the last millennium 1000 – 2000 AD was the coldest of our current Holocene interglacial and the world had already been cooling quite rapidly since before Roman times, in fact since ~1000 BC.
    · At 11,000 years old, our Holocene interglacial, responsible for all man-kind’s advances, from living in caves to microprocessors, is coming to its end.
    · The weather gets worse in colder times.
    · The world will very soon, (on a geological time scale), revert to a true glaciation, again eventually resulting in mile high ice sheets over New York.

The prospect of even moving in a cooling direction is something to be truly scared about, both for the biosphere and for man-kind.

Spending any effort, without true cost benefit analysis and full due diligence, let alone at GDP scale costs, trying to stop the UK’s 1% of something that has not been happening for 3 millennia seems monumentally stupid.

Wow, that was an impressive long read Ed. The explanations are about as simple as they can get and all corners are covered. Opinions are backed with reliable data, aided by colourful graphs and charts.
Higgs’s ’25 bullet points that CO2 doesn’t cause global warming’ has everything we need – even including Svensmark’s theory with cosmic rays and good old sunshine!
Why not present these points to a group of passionate planet protectors such as our future King, the BBC, and Lily Allen?

The same system should be applied to all those greens who are promoting the “war on plastic”. Instant fine for anyone of them using any plastic. Three strikes and it is jail for them.

In a similar vein Nicola Sturgeon has declared a climate emergency for Scotland. Last week potential new flights were announced from Dundee to London. This was enthusiastically welcomed by the City Council with Council leader John Alexander tweeting that the airport should be seeking other routes also. Dundee council is controlled by the SNP – presumably Nicola Sturgeon forgot to include Councillor Alexander in the memo.

My Green councillor in Edinburgh just doesn’t bother to respond any more to my emails. SInce the Chinese stopped taking our plastic and I asked her what will be done with that waste now and how about incinerating it, she says that produces toxins. When I reply that there’s an incinerator in Slough that produces fewer toxins than the EU’s legal limit, she blanks me. The Green mental frame of mind seems to be we need to be miserable and to create misery – then we’re happy. And if you point out to the WWF that wind turbines kill eagles and bats by the thousands, they don’t want to know either. Is the Green ideology fundamentally a death cult (not for the Greens, of course, but for the rest of us)?

The atmosphere and its albedo reflect away 30% of the incoming solar energy making the earth cooler. Remove the atmosphere and the earth gets hotter. Radiative GreenHouse Effect theory claims exactly the opposite.

That the earth without an atmosphere would be similar to the moon, blazing hot lit side, deep cold dark, is not just intuitively obvious, but that scenario is supported by UCLA Diviner lunar mission data and studies by Nikolov and Kramm (U of AK).

This actual and indisputable fact negates, refutes, guts and tosses RGHE theory straight onto the long established rubbish heap of failed scientific theories together with Vulcan, phlogiston, Martian canals, luminiferous aether, spontaneous generation, tabula rasa, phrenology and cold fusion.

No RGHE, no CO2 warming, no man caused climate change or global warming.

Since the earth is actually hotter without an atmosphere, radiative greenhouse effect goes straight into the historical trash bin of failed theories and all the handwavium, pseudo-science, thermodynamic nonsense pretending to explain it follows close behind.

“The Landy could be fueled by supermarket cooking oil for all we know”

I was waiting in a chip shop the other week and noticed a sign which said “We cook in vegetable oil” followed by another saying “All our oil is recycled”. When I was being served I asked the assistant if the second sign meant that one of them drives an old diesel Peugeot. He replied that his was too new to risk it, but he had a friend with an old Landcruiser who uses cooking oil…

Don’t just add green fanatics to the no fly list, deny them access to all and anything that involves an industrial process that emits CO2 or involves plastics.. so no houses, no shoes, no clothes, no push bikes, certainly no mobile phones or computers.. and when they are cut off from gas and electricity, sitting the cold and dark in their eco cardboard box.. recycled of course and all the CO2 has been locked up and all plant life disappears… lets see what they come up with.. or they can head off to the DRC to mine the deadly cobalt for the e car batteries they so want and get paid ten pence a day.. A look into the very, very, very, very distant past shows us that the climate is beyond that scope of mans capability to change it one way or another……..

I am sorry to have to point out a tiny omission from your list. What material are water mains made from these days? If you answered blue plastic take a gold star. So no more water main connections for the greenies.

The points which were put up on Guido’s site could be developed into a set of “commandments” for our green brethren. It could be called “The Green Pledge” or “My Pledge to the Planet” and would comprise all the things Greens should avoid:
    > I will not travel by plane.
    > I will not use fossil-fuelled transport.
    > I will not heat my home or cook my food with fossil fuels
    > etc
Then – the fun bit – all of the prominent greens, activists, media cronies and so on could be challenged to sign it, to see if they are prepared to walk the walk.
Hard to imagine how they could refuse with any credibility!
A public list could be kept of those who have signed (so folk can spot any cheating) and those who refuse (so their pontifications can be ignored).
