The Conservative Woman has been running a series on Bill Gates’ funding of the British media:

WITH an estimated fortune of $128.9billion, Bill Gates is the fourth richest man in the world, after Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Bernard Arnault and Elon Musk, according to Forbes.

He’s stepped back from the day-to-day running of Microsoft, the company he founded in 1975, and focuses on his so-called philanthropy through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (GF), and is best known for his worldwide vaccination and anti-malaria programmes.

Less widely known is that he has spent hundreds of millions bankrolling news outlets, in the process turning the GF into one of journalism’s main gatekeepers. According to Tim Schwab of Columbia Journalism Review, by last June more than $250million had gone to news operations including the BBC, NBC, Al Jazeera, ProPublica, National Journal, the Guardian, the Financial Times, Univision, Medium, the Atlantic, the Texas Tribune, Gannett, Washington Monthly, Le Monde, and the Center for Investigative Reporting; and to charitable organisations affiliated with news outlets, like the BBC’s Media Action and the New York Times’s Neediest Cases Fund.

makes really chilling reading. Nobody can amass that kind of wealth Gates ha without ripping off some one. In truth his dominance of computer operational software as ripped off all of us.

I guess I must be extremely naive as I had never really considered this aspect of wealthy individuals having such a huge influence. I just went on the Guardian website “environment” section (so I guess I will have to wipe my laptop’s memory clean now as they are bound to have infected it with something) and I selected a few names to put into google with “+Gates” after them. Try it sometime, it is amazing how many immediately bring up direct association.
He also seems to fund a lot of “research paper” publications so what does that say?
    Very worrying indeed.

With respect to AGW climate change, Bill Gates has offered a prize to those who can takes CO2 from the atmosphere in large amounts…

“Gates’s team established unusual criteria for the fund. Any venture must feasibly eliminate a minimum of 500 million tons of greenhouse gases annually, with an investment horizon of at least 20 years…”

Those 500 million tons a year is 12.5 times the current world-wide amount of ~40 Mtpa. With a Global CCS Institute estimate of ~100 million needed by 2050, it is 5 times the future estimates. 500 Mtpa times a 20-year horizon is 10,000 million tons. That amount is not even 2 parts-per-million, an amount the climate would hardly notice. [One ppm of CO2 is 7,800 million tons]

Bill Gates (and Elon Musk) do not know that, much less understand that. Their prize money is in no danger. Those who will try to win those prizes will be wasting their time and money.

Fair and balanced reporting from the non-biased BBC (and Bill Gates of course).

The love of money is the root of all evil-but the love of self-publicity must run it close!

Gates is not just a tech whizz but apparently an advisor to the UK govt. on both climate and vaccination matters.

The thing is, Gates will continue like this, the BBC, the Guardian, the Telegraph and all the others and they won’t deviate. But, Joe Public is not stupid, it is noticeable that the age of the onset of climate skepticism is dropping. In my experience it used to be about 55, it’s now nearer 40. In the northern US Climate Alarmism has basically lost traction due to the cold winters and cool summers. I think that trend will continue as people clock off the failed predictions, notice the temeratures are if anything lower than back in the early noughties, and individually come around in their own time to “Nah”.

All that adds up and sooner or later politicians will have to pay attention because they need to win elections. Quite a lot of the Conservative backbenchers are clear skeptics now, Gummer and his CCC are seen as idiots. I suspect many on the Labour benches are the same, although they dare not say just yet. Bogus political ideas that are so strong that they cannot be challenged always collapse in the end. Who is building dual carriageways through the centres of towns these days? Do you remember that one?
