Climate Hypocrite Sanders Spent $300K On Private Jets In One Month

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’s re-election campaign spent just under $300,000 on private jet use in October, Federal Election Commission (FEC) records show.

The Sanders campaign, which is funded primarily by small-dollar donors, paid Apollo Jets $297,685.50 on Oct. 10, FEC records reveal. The payment was marked for “transportation.”

“This expense was for transportation for the senator’s 9-day, 9-state tour to support Democratic candidates up and down the ballot ahead of Election Day,” campaign spokeswoman Arianna Jones told local website VtDigger.com, which first reported on the jet expenses.

“This cost covered the entirety of the tour from Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, South Carolina, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, California, and back to Vermont,” Jones said.

Sanders’s private jet use comes despite the senator’s hard-line stance on climate change, which he has consistently called “the single greatest threat facing our planet.”

Because flying generates significantly more greenhouse gases than driving, climate hawks generally advocate against taking unnecessary flights.

“The campaign purchased carbon offsets from NativeEnergy to support renewable energy projects and invest in carbon reduction projects to balance out the emissions produced on the trip,” Jones told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Carbon offsets in theory allow polluters to cancel out their emissions by funding projects aimed at reducing emissions.

The same day his campaign cut a check to the private jet company, Sanders called climate change a “planetary crisis.”

“Climate change is a planetary crisis. Our task is clear. We must take on the fossil fuel industry that’s largely responsible for global emissions and accelerate our transition toward energy efficiency and sustainable energy sources,” Sanders wrote in an Oct. 10 tweet.

Jones said the payment of $4,980 to NativeEnergy will be reflected in the campaign’s Dec. 6 filing, which covers activities after Oct. 17.

Sanders, an independent who caucuses with Democrats in Congress, is widely expected to run for president as a Democrat in 2020.

His campaign make the usual feeble defence that they have bought carbon credits. But if they genuinely believe climate change is a threat, they should be buying carbon credits AND avoid using private jets.

It seems to be a race between Al Gore and Bernie Sanders to see who can be the bigger hypocrite. Someone has said somewhere that Bernies initials are his for a reason.

Frequent air travel is something of a trade mark for professional climate whingers.

‘UN environment chief under fire for travel expenses resigns.’

They all love sucking at the infinite teat of the tax payer or in Sanders case the party funders.

    $4,980 to NativeEnergy
One might question whether these “green indulgences” are wisely used or just wasted. Also the words “native energy” and also “nativeenergy” are used much and it is hard to tell what is going on.
Native Energy has a form: SEC Form D, that lists a number of folks as directors with EO’s name Thomas Stoddard.

From here, Green Indulgences, we can learn that
Native Energy has also partnered with Green America in promoting actions towards reducing carbon footprints by funding new solar, wind, water, and conservation projects. Native Energy states that by purchasing carbon offsets from them, it helps to finance new wind turbines, renewable energy at schools, and methane gas capturing on family farms.

    Wasted then?

Carbon offsets: = Catholic Indulgences reborn. A good little earner if you know what you are doing.

It will be easier now, when this successful trip helped to elect many new Democrats.

Know them by their actions, indeed. I think we can be fairly reassured that it is a way to control people by making them join groupthought alliances. You vote for the wuckfit who repeats the dross you want to hear. But never do you see the ‘urgent action’ needed, taken by those pontificating. They do however, take the money, which due to the scale of the scam, is almost without limit.

“Our task is clear. We must take on the fossil fuel industry which is largely responsible for global emissions….” Wrong. It’s the users of oil who create the emissions. not the producers of it. The oil industry merely produces oil to fulfil a demand created by the likes of you Bernie Sanders and the rest of us. Nobody forced you to spend $300,000 on oil to satisfy your oil-consuming globe trotting. Nobody asked you to pour your fuel emissions into the atmosphere, so why are your dictating to the rest of us? You prove yourself to be a hypocritical fake This is yet another example of the ‘do as I say and not as I do.’ philosophy adopted by these phoney earth-loving people in the Al Gore school of thinking.

Following the Democrat primaries which Hillary stole and he knew and talked about what she did, he then endorsed her. There are two points to be made: first of all, he is still alive, when many who criticized her are not, and secondly, he ended up with nice houses. Is there a connection? You decide.

As with all Marxist utopias, some are more equal than others.
