The last thing we want is a dead saint on our hands. They are much harder to discredit. In any case we must wish her well as a fellow human, however much we regret her views and actions.
I truly do not want Greta to come to any harm but reading her symptoms it sounded like she had a bad cold or a bit of flu. No reason it should have been covid19

Her backers were obviously worried about lack of publicity. This was a real emergency rather than a manufactured one. Her fans needed to be reminded.
Oh dear Ed Lambert, you misrepresent what she said. The first piece of an hour ago (at that time) says she MAY have HAD it. That means that she was not diagnosed, just maybe had it and that she had already recovered. English is tricky I know but her statement was very clear.
I am no fan of Ms Thunberg but we must defend her from this kind of silly mischief.

Yes, but it also says she has (not had) self-isolated. She also said she *may* have had it, but *has* (not *may have*) recovered. It does smack of a publicity stunt but, to give credit to her team, at least they’re consistent.

Recovered from what then, if she didn’t have it?
She ‘may’ have realised that her star has set as it was always bound to do- speeded by Coronavirus. We are now experimenting with her de-industrialisation ideas. If CO2 stays around 400ppm and does not fall to the Guardian’s ‘safe level’ of 350ppm, then AGW is a busted flush and the UK’s decarbonisation ambition even more of an expensive time waster. Perhaps I shd write to the papers.
The current virus-induced lowering of CO2 emissions simulates those ‘green’ demands and reveals in stark reality what would happen to global transportation and economies. But it cannot lower what is already in the atmosphere. It merely leaves carbon in the ground or in storage. This is a very common misconception. Only industrial CCS technology can ‘decarbonize’ the atmosphere permanently and it is woefully inadequate quantitatively. Not only St. Greta, but the UN’s IPCC and politicians need to realize this.
We really do not need industrial CCS technology to remove CO2 from the atmosphere. Neither do we need to plant millions of trees for a similar purpose, although I like trees.
CO2 will continue to rise monotonically at Mauna Loa, regardless of how much anthropogenic emissions are cut. There is a spurious correlation between emissions and atmospheric CO2 and the AGW scientists still do not comprehensively understand the carbon cycle.
For 30 years there has been little change in UK temperatures in spite of rising CO2. Current temperature occurred over a couple of years in the late 80’s.
For around 30 years prior to then, temperatures declined against rising CO2. Prior to that temperatures rose in the 20’s to late 40’s BK, (before Keeling), with lower levels of CO2. The theory is falsified, it doesn’t do what is claimed for it.
The picture is the same across Europe.
Broadlands, that is true. But if the records at the end of the year show that again CO2 has increased (It’s been a record year – Roger Horror Bin) but the global temperature falls (due to a lack of activity, etc.) then the cause of Greta and The Greens is shown – again – to be defective. In their minds +CO2 = 2°C (or more) rise in global temperatures.
They keep trying ‘to have it both ways’ and failing.
This would be a prime example.
David Bellamy was right – CO2 theory is poppycock. As is obsessing about know-nothing teenage ‘activists’.

I may have had it and recovered or didn’t even know I had it, is anyone interested? so the headline Greta got was applicable to anyone. That’s the point
The test if, you have it, isn’t very good with a large proportion of false positives, that is why they discontinued testing it was pointless.
The new test will at last give a better picture of what is happening, but will they dare tell us?

Only too happy to do so, Vernon , if only she would leave us alone. But she won’t , there is too much money at stake for her to retire.
Apparently she has been on yet another barn storming tour of Europe whilst we poor devils are confined to house arrest and allowed out for just a few minutes each day. Don’t you think that might generate considerable and justifiable resentment ? and maybe explains why her tweet produced so many scornful and derisive comments..

Can I suggest anybody who thinks carbon dioxide remains in the atmosphere for ever, reads Not for Greens by Ian Plimer the well known geologist.
He states that “a molecule of carbon dioxide has a residence time in the atmosphere of 5 to 7 years before it is sequestered into shells, rocks, plants and ocean water.”
The carbon cycle is well known.
Is that a maximum, a half-life, an average?
The carbon sequestered into carbonates (biomineralized) can remain and become buried, unless it is plankton and drops below the carbonate compensation depth and redissolves. But, the other UNmineralized biomass (organic carbon) becomes rapidly recycled by aerobic respiration (it’s food) and very little ever reaches the bottom to be buried below the sediment-water interface. Over geological time the burial of bio-carbonates has exceeded that of biomass (fossil fuel) as the percentage ratio of atmospheric oxygen to CO2 is now 525 to one.

Surely one of the main efforts the WHO should be engaged in is identifying those amongst us who can ‘see’ the virus. It’s a lot bigger than a CO2 molecules and it’s green and spikey.

I have very aged parents and I would love to know them safe from COVID-19. Greta, we need you to tell us how. When you are at it, tell us the CO2 seeing trick as well. We find that remarkable too.

Creating a pandemic is a serious business, and our work should not be denigrated by people such as her and Prince Charles to further their tawdry and fraudulent campaigns. If these reports continue legal action is not out of the question.”
consistent hyperbolising… she has a touch of man flu and it must be covid19. The weather patterns change … it must be AGW climate catastrophy
On a different subject , i notice today (and most of the week) the weather has been warm with very little breeze. Given everyone is at home, has energy use gone up and how much are the dreaded wind farms supplying?.
