It’s summer. so there are wildfires!
Tony Heller reminds us that this has always been the case:

Confirmation of Tony’s video comes in this publication by the US Forest Service:

Off topic but worth sharing.
I think it was here that somebody mentioned John Dee and so I signed up to his emails. Currently he is trying to put together a 100 year rainfall record using data from KNMI as Paul has done. There are only 13 stations with a 100 year record but some of the data has been causing him a problem. It seems that the data has been wrongly classified by NOAA and is a complete mess. He is looking specifically at Armagh where it turns out that minimum temps are higher than the max!!! This would seem to be utter incompetence and not the usual data fiddling but does it have consequences when used elsewhere?
Nice to see that Tony’s tireless efforts to get the truth out to
people is being published by others. As his website says it all

Cue ‘extreme’ headline in today’s Telegraph:
“ ‘Exceptional risk’ wildfires could sweep across Britain this weekend.
Homes face ‘unprecedented’ danger from destructive blazes as hot, dry weather combines with strong winds.”
One wonders why wind generation is only contributing about 3% to the grid in the ‘strong winds’….
Wild Fires in Drax Biomass Power Station are at last being officially recognised as barmy… maybe..?? Kwazi Kwarteng privately admits it is a nonsense apparently. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/burning-imported-wood-drax-power-112334451.html
Thanks to “Potato ‘Ed” Davey and “Jailbird Chris” Huhne…
I walked over a local bit of parkland a couple of days ago, obviously all the grass and scrub is like straw, yet I counted well over 30 carbon black squares left by the instant bbqs; they blame climate change, not stupid people and irresponsible profit motivated businesses.
What is it that going to support these “wildfires”? The map in this morning’s Telegraph looked to cover mainly agricultural areas – I doubt if the areas contain much in the way of conifer plantations, heath, or moorland. I take it that the corn harvest is all in.
So what’s left? Is there really much hay growing there? Or are we looking at fires that would remind us of a lesser version of the stubble burning of a few decades ago?
Yes a lot of grass and stubble fires so far.
School holidays.
If you look into the background of a lot of the US fires you will find that grass is an ideal fuel and is in plentiful supply. Here, even in cut fields there is enough dry material that can burn and then spread to hedgerows or as we have seen, fences. The good news in my corner of Surrey is that a lot of rain is forecast from both my sources for next week.
Tony Hellers pro Russian apologia [ based it would appear on his previous ,marriage to a Russian emigre ] and whitewashing of Japanese military atrocities in WWII seems to have abated somewhat …….Perhaps like Catweazle, Micky R and Hot Scot here on Pauls page he was embarrassed by some inconvenient history lessons . I was struck by the commonalities with climate alarmists and religious fundamentalists By that I mean ideological obstinancy, revisionism and deception by selective omission… That is to say hiding historical information …
The subject is forest fire acres burned reporting
Yu provided a childish character attack
Your Mother would be ashamed of you
Inaccurate and nasty comment Mr Hamish, especially considering Heller’s main tactic is exposing historical fact that the climate establishment want buried.
So I’m a climate alarmist and religious fundamentalist now am I Hamish, you sad, deluded little troll?
I suspect all of the people with whom I have interacted in my seven-odd decades would be astonished to be told that, as absolutely nothing could possibly further from the truth.
And apparently Tony Heller is a pro-Russian apologist too…
Have you considered seeking urgent psychiatric assistance?
Because you really aren’t right in the head, not even close!
Not to mention thoroughly unpleasant, to boot!
As to history, you don’t actually know any, sunshine!
Not innaccurate or nasty at all ‘ Mr ” .nor a childish character attack ……… I obviously struck a nerve ….. Tony Heller has been roundly criticized for his one sided bias on the subject [ not just by me ] of the Ukraine – Russia conflict for which I can provide the sources ….And hes not the only one…..
.To give an example of how exasperatingly stupid and irrational Catweazle is consider his Straw Man ruse : ” So I’m a climate alarmist and religious fundamentalist now am I ….you sad deluded little troll ” ? …..I have never accused him or Tony Heller of anything of the sort .[ The Straw Man fallacy ] ….I merely pointed out the ” commonalities ” [ A concept he has no comprehension of ] namely deception by omission …….Tony for example claimed 30 million [ the exaggerated high end of the estimate..The real ] Russians died battling a “European” invasion when in fact many Russians are European per se and among the millions of Soviet WWII combatants [ thousands of whom fought for Nazi Germany and the Axis as volunteers or draftees ] and casualties were ethnic Tajiks Uzbeks Mongolians. Georgians , Chechens Cossacks , Estonians Ukrainians … Even Latvians he is prejudiced toward [ a generic attack on an entire people he has never recanted ] coerced into the Red Army..The dead were not all ” Russians ” and numerous Russians switched sides to fight for the Axis ….When confronted with the facts he refused to correct the historical record He concealed the truth and not for the only time ….
I know my history alright
The real figure was in the range 18 – 25 million
“I know my history alright”
I believe you are what is commonly known as a “revisionist historian”, sunshine.
Its all here for others to see …….When others find out who you are there will be more to see
Hehehe, is that a threat, little boy?
Keyboard hard man, are you?
Pink belt in hanky-wofting, is it?
How would you interpret disclosure as a ” threat ” unless it makes you feel inadequate ?…….You deserve it
I think I’m going to adopt you as my pet troll, I haven’t had a decent one since The Aphid stopped posting on Disqus.
You’ve some way to get yet to reach his level of competence, but with a bit of eduction and guidance you might get to be quite competent.
Have you worked out what a Straw Man fallacy is yet ?
Is that the best you can do?
If I’m going to keep you on as a pet troll you’ll have to do better than that!
As a matter of interest, how old are you?
My guess would be no more than 17, 19 at the outside.
Forest fires are up to 90% manmade
There is no logical connection between forest fire acres burned and tiny changes in the global average temperature
GLOBAL WARMING HAS BEEN ACCOMPANIED BY MORE RAINFALL, NOT LESS
Exactly as would be expected on a planet almost three quarters covered with water, of course.
You don’t need to be a “Climate Scientist” to work that out!
Paul, more discussion of wildfires here:
This is all so cute. Tens of millions of acres of boreal forest burn every year in Canada, Alaska, and Russia. All natural.
Quite so. Mostly they have burned from time to time since prehistoric times. It is a way of providing fertiliser and sunlight for the young green growth which was overshadowed by old and dying trees Information from a graduate in forest entomology to me as an archaeology graduate
I tried to find the 30 million acres burned each year quote (yellow highlighted below the big image). No luck. Could you please supply a link?
