Retraction of paper saying there is no climate emergency illustrates how dependent climate activists are on scaremongering

August 30, 2023

By Paul Homewood

The recent cancellation of Alimonti et al shows clearly that catastrophising bad weather events and attributing them to a collapse of the climate is now the main weapon deployed to scare populations into embracing the Net Zero agenda.

Of course, reference is still made to global warming, but most recent rises seem to owe more to frequent upward retrospective adjustments of temperature, rather than any significant natural boost. Perhaps we should not be surprised by this turn of events. In a short essay titled ‘The New Apocalypticism’, the science writer Roger Pielke Jr. noted: “For the secular millenarian, extreme events – floods, hurricanes, fires – are more than mere portents, they are evidence of our sins of the past and provide opportunities for redemption in the future, if only we listen, accept and change.”

The climate is collapsing all around us, shout the headlines – they require we ignore the data, the historical record, even common sense. When all is said and done, the Earth is not actually boiling! Well Professor Gianluca Alimonti and three other Italian scientists didn’t ignore the past data, much of it in fact from the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and they found little change in extreme weather events. They published a paper concluding that there was certainly not enough to justify the declaration of a ‘climate emergency’.

A year later, the publisher Springer Nature bowed to the demands of a group of activist scientists and journalists led by the Guardian and Agence France-Presse and retracted the non-conforming paper. An addendum was proposed and sent to four reviewers for comment. Three reviewers argued for publication. The fourth stated that typical readers were not climate experts and “editors should seriously consider the implications of the possible publication of this addendum”.

What a lot of people do not realise is that it is not just a few Eco Loons who are running the scam , it is a world wide Marxist / Socialist plan to destroy the economies of Western countries .https://www.technocracy.news/un-agenda-2030-a-recipe-for-global-socialism/
So control of the media and politicians , and what is allowed to be said is all part of it .
They will do whatever they can to try to stop the real facts coming out , and constant lies and propaganda will keep coming so that they can fool enough people to get away with it .

No, the socialist/marxists are justfellow travellers. The source of the rot is in the UN, WEF etc and their Agenda 20’s eyc.

I have had the same experience as TB – I use Outlook too and this is extremely troubling that your blog site AS A WHOLE is targeted for reporting on the facts about these egregious retraction demand.

I ignored it like he did.

Don’t use Outlook. There are plenty of email clients that are robust. Also, avoid using mainstream browsers (Edge, Chrome) where you can.

TV weathermen, and their ubiquitous, busty, bubble-headed-bleach-blond counterparts, were and are the original fake news. “If it bleeds it leads” was the mantra of TV news in days gone by, now it’s “Atmospheric rivers, increased frequency of unpleasant weather, and it gets hot in the Summer” are the new “must watch” segments. I read once, in An Old Book, “What was old is new again.” That is to say, some things never change.

Bill Giles – I remember his name, but not really anything about him. He has jumped on the band wagon saying that “the extent of the climate change crises is difficult for Britons to understand because weather in the UK is so drab”. So he is implying that because we have not seen any evidence of global warming/climate change , we don’t accept it. No Bill, some of us do some research to come to our conclusions.

Some interesting comments in that linked article, esp from some person called MTF who was quite insistent that CO2 was the villain and that ice-cores prove it. Yet, I was always under the impression that T led CO2, not the other way round – and that the ice-cores showed this.
Overall, it is quite depressing that there are some (other than the carpet-baggers making money from it) who revel in the thought of an extinction event for the furtherance of their own political bias.

HP – “MTF” is a suspected 77th Brigade troll who has a history of pushing narratives; he was/is a very persistent poster on the Lockdown Sceptic website that mRNA experimental GT drugs were safe and highly effective – his theme was 100% behind the UK Govt’s position that has been totally shredded as most here know. He would make statements which suggest access to higher level knowledge of drug/vaccine which, to me, seemed highly suspicious as the facts of the criminal activity surrounding these drugs became ever clearer and continue to this day. His posts strongly hinted to me that he was deliberately contrarian in every aspect and the ice ring comment is highly reminiscent of that. Some of his earlier comments about SARS COV2 experimental EUA GT drugs have become very embarrassing over time – eg..excess deaths, drug stays in the arm, not toxic, LNP not toxic – I think you get the drift….

    Coincidence?

    This retraction was forced.

The people responsible for this are SO SCARED. Where is the list of identified inaccuracies in this paper for which alternative statistically significant empirical data exists to show the paper is wrong?

However, this is not the biggest issue here. Science is progressed often by people getting things wrong and others thinking about what they did and refining the procedure or coming up with a completely different way of attempting an experiment.

Banning, removing, silencing is not the way of science, rather it carries the well tried and tested ploy of marxist politics

“illustrates how dependent climate activists are on scaremongering”. It illustrates just HOW addicted they are to tax payer money handed out with little or no oversight.

    FOLLOW THE MONEY!

The believers’ actions indicate that they are aware of how vulnerable their belief is to assertive and accurate peer reviews.

‘Peer Review’: Richard Horton, editor-in-chief of The Lancet

“Peer review to the public is portrayed as a quasi-sacred process that helps to make science our most objective truth teller, but we know that the system of peer review is biased, unjust, unaccountable, incomplete, easily fixed, often insulting, usually ignorant, occasionally foolish, and frequently wrong”

Has anyone managed to download a copy of the paper the article refers to? It was republished on another site but is behind a firewall.
